whats your favorite 45? (non-1911)

I have the Sig P220 carry and recently purchased a Taurus PT 145. The P220 is reliable as ever and the PT145, after I fixed the magazine has become my primary carry. Suprisingly, the PT145, for such a small frame with a big caliber does not have a significant kick. It allows me to put all 10 rounds on a paper plate at 7 yards in just under 5 seconds.

USP45 or P220 w/srt, both are great but have different strenghts. For carry I will take the Sig, for home defense the HK. But if I could only keep one, HK.

HK45 might be the best of both worlds but I havent coughed up the dough for one yet because I can't stop investing in 1911s.

If it has to be a non 1911, Then I would pick my HK Tactical. Of course the only reason that would be my favorite is because I mainly shoot it suppressed. Makes it a lot of fun.

My first choice after 1911s is the S&W M&P 45. The grip on it is pretty darn good, and the trigger cleans up nicely. After that, I like the Glock 21 'regular'. The grip is large and awful, but I can still shoot it well for some reason.

Springfield XD .45... especially the 4" model... compact enough to carry with 10rds of .45 and can accept the full size 13rd .45 mags.

Sig helped me out on my "coupon" .45 upper for my Sig P220 while I was deployed (purchased as a .22LR pistol). I took it to the range today and it ran like a...Sig:D Accurate, handled well and decent DA/SA trigger.

I also have an XD .45 Compact...a great hi-cap gun for CCW, although I'd like to try a Glock 30SF down the road.

I have a CZ97B...accurate and reliable but a bit on the heavy side.

The FNP 45 has really caught my eye for a full-size .45; feels great in the hand although I haven't put any rounds down range on it yet.

I really enjoyed my XD45 when they first came out. I sold it for a 1911 but it was a fine weapon. I easily ran through too much money shooting it, never a hiccup. It was just big for my hands.

I have the 30.... its THICK... too thick for IWB carry in my opinion. Then its too small (even with finger extension) to use as a target gun... really odd place to justify owning one for myself since i can't open carry in my state.

At one time being on the "cheap", I picked up a Ballester Molina. It was reliable on the range, but traded it for another Argentine pistol: the Sistema.

Glock 30SF for carry; Ruger KP-90 when I want a larger frame piece. Both have been 100% as to function. The Ruger is 100% now that I installed Wolff +10% springs in the original Ruger mags.

I think the Ruger being double action with safety would be the perfect, chamber loaded, nightstand piece with a Crimson Trace laser beam.

My Glock 23 with a Crimson Trace is currently my nightstand gun and since there are no small children in the house and my wife is Glock proficient I have no fears of its loaded chamber.

XD-45, hands down.

I have smallish hands (which always strikes folks funny at first, 'cause I am a big fella) and the XD is the only double-stack polymer .45 platform that fits my hands appropriately.

I am an avowed "Glock guy" and love them, but the G21 (even the newer SF models) just don't fit me right... although I still can't bring myself to get rid of the three I have. (No trouble parting with the G30 though -- couldn't hit squat with that one.)

Back when I was deciding on a (non-1911) .45 platform I bought all five of these .45s in a very short period of time to test against one another...

... fine guns all, each with their own pros and cons, but the XD is the only one of the bunch that I still have (and I've added a couple more since ;)).

I have a Sig P220 and it's a fine weapon . . . . but for me, there is no equal to the CZ-97.

Ridiculously accurate, low recoil, tank solid, 10 round capacity, much easier to upgrade or modify (compared to the Sig), and cheaper than a Sig to boot.

Hardshell: I love your post. Great info.
