Chipotle says; NO GUNS!......

Chipotle restaurants are now "gun-free" .
The company sent out press releases saying they are no longer allowing firearms or CCWed weapons on the property.
I never eat at Chipotle & really don't care what the new SOPs are but I wanted to pass this tidbit on to any TFL members before they make any fast food choices.

It sounds to me like a lot of fluff & hand-ringing by the execs of Chipotle.
It should make things better for the crooks & stick-up thugs too. :uhoh:

Same story as Starbucks, they were neutral until people started turning their business into a political stage by open carrying rifles inside... They banned ccw too? Did not hear that part.

Brought to you by the same group of people that got in the national news for causing a massive police response at a local Jack In The Box.

Thanks Open Carry Tarrant County... formerly of Open Carry Texas until being disowned for the Jack in the Box stunt.

In other news, I'm in serious danger of becoming a FUDD after seeing that SKS.

It was a direct result of this open carry FB posting, which caused a firestorm of "pro" and "anti" sentiments.

I'm not sure whether this helps or hurts

Like Starbucks, they are "asking" patrons not to bring guns. Looks like an attempt to assuage the hoplophobes without actually taking any rights away.

JMHO, but this (and actual bans) is what comes of open carrying in urban/suburban areas. Bad results follow.

This development (another place that was neutral on guns becomes openly anti-gun) leaves no room for confusion. If you engage in a behavior and it generates bad results, then it hurts. I'm unsure as to how you could be unsure about this.

They banned ccw too? Did not hear that part.

In Texas to ban CCW they must post the PC30.06 sign of the proper minimum dimensions at all entrances.

Never thought Chipotle was worth seeking out after having been to one on a business trip in Portland, so I don't know if they've posted or not. I guess it passes for Mexican food up there, but I prefer our Tex-Mex of which we have a near infinite choice around here.

I personally believe the open carry folks who bring ARs into resturaunts like this aren't doing us a favor and are handling the issues in a wrong way. By being shocking, they really are hurting out cause.

I will not be doing business with Chipotles if they are against CCW. Besides, there food gives me mad stomach cramps.

Another "win" for the open carry idiots.

Not every gun owner is your friend.

The quality of their food doesn't matter. What matters is that those two cartoon characters caused a neutral business to lean anti.

need we say more?

There are just under dozen of them in our area. I have never been in one, but a group I eat with periodically might choose to go there one day.

I cannot find words to express my resentment of the ill advised actions of a group in Texas and the impact that they have had in other places.

I'll tell ya what: if a couple of guys like the ones in the pic walked into an establishment of mine liked that, I'd have signs up within an hour.

I would be a little more selective, though.

Just what did these clowns think they were going to accomplish?

"Cartoon characters"? That's a good one!

It's pointless to discuss whether or not you would eat at Chipotles. The point of the story is that a few people turned a neutral site into an anti site...it doesn't matter if it's Chipotles, Burger King, or Mortons Steak House.

Their actions had a direct negative impact on the patrons and the ownership of the establishment. Not only that but the picture and news story will reverberate through the rest of the country via the news media.

These are the defenders of the second amendment? Ambassadors of our right to keep and bear arms? One looks like he can't do a single pull-up and the other is raising a gun in a restaurant for a picture.

I'm sure the folks in the restaurant left with a real positive view of gun owners.

Two idiots.
If I see a sign, I dont eat there, but in VA they only mean if they catch you and ask you to leave and you dont, you are a treapasser and subject to arrest for tresspassing.
Our favorite joint give a discount to any one that show a CWP.

Im gonna agree, you unsling your weapon for any reason other than a full on robbery in my establishment.. I would be pretty ticked off...

BTW Chipolte is owned by McDonalds.

I hadn't even heard of these two jack asses or their "protest". I'm glad I have now because if I were in a restaurant with my family, and two guys looking like that strolled in with AR15's, i'm afraid the threat bells would start ringing loudly. Its not hard to see how one could quickly mistake their presence for something nefarious rather than just ridiculous.

Over-rated YUPPIE tripe....

I ate at a local Chipotle location once or twice in the 2000s. To me, it's like a step up from Taco Bell.
And yes, the chain is owned & run thru McDonald's.
There are several in my metro area. I think they appeal to the YUPPIEs & posers who don't want to eat traditional Mexican fare at a real Mom & Pop local place.
If I recall Chipotle was designed & started by some silver spoon son of a multi-billionaire. He went on the US version of Undercover Boss & was cast in some lame "unscripted" NBC series looking for new fast food/casual dining chains(which turned into a ugly lawsuit for the "winner").

The contrast between these two people and the two open-carriers I saw last week is remarkable. The ones I saw were clean-cut young men, casually but neatly dressed, carrying handguns in what appeared to be Safariland retention holsters. They didn't take pictures, they didn't go out of their way to draw attention to themselves, they were friendly (one greeted me as a supporter of the same sports team), they went about their business like normal people. They were good ambassadors for open carry.

Unfortunately, it's a lot easier to do harm to a cause than to do good for a cause.
