What revolver do you use for home defense?

S&W Model 10, Charter Arms Bulldog .44 - and more recently, Colt King Cobra .357.

Best value .357 poll + unrelated question

586 and GP-100 sure are contenders. How about the Uberti Cattleman? They're pretty affordable and seem to run really well. If you want to open you wallet a bit wider , the Colt King Cobra sure is good too.

    I let a model 10 get away...

Most excellent story! The Model 10 is the perfect revolver. And, since revolvers are the perfect guns, that makes the Model 10 the Perfect Gun!

Cimarron Colt Richards conversion misfire - gun or the ammo?

I shoot a lot of Uberti conversion guns, and weak springs are usually the culprit. Defender ammo probably uses either WW, CCI or Federal primers, just like the 'big guys' do, and the brass case being shot once or twice has very little to do at all with primer function - it has a lot to do with...

    200 xtp in 44mag performance

Deer are pretty tough critters compared to humans. For hunting, I'd go with a good JSP or JHP in 240. Or similar weight cast.

what to do (new model 25)

When I was a kid in 1980, my first revolver was a 8 3/8" Model 25. I've shot many 1000's or rounds through it and it's excellent. Been to the gunsmith twice for tune ups, it's still going strong, and looks as good as the day I bought it. Life is short. Enjoy your wise investment.

    King Cobra Carry vs Cobra...

If you like shooting these guns, check out Cavalryammunition.com. We have ammo optimized for short-barreled revolvers to cut down on muzzle flash, using powders that are efficient in short barrels - using the King Cobra as our test gun. It's excellent - great trigger and plenty accurate.

Charter Arms Bulldog XL .45 Colt

For me, I'd choose the Charter over a Taurus. You can't go wrong with .44 Spl or .45 Colt as defense/night stand guns. Perfect calibers, easy to shoot, no controls to fumble with in high-stress situations. I own a lot of 'hi-speed' guns and this is the sort of gun I keep handy for '2AM Social...

You poor poor Marlin 336a... what have they done to you?

Lots of modern lever rifles have a matte finish on top of the receiver anyhow. That could work too.

Rifles you adore that leave others scratching their head?

Thanks - and if you don't see something you'd like, let me know.

You poor poor Marlin 336a... what have they done to you?

I would think that a pro gunsmith would be able to weld that okay. After all, there's Garand receivers that have been welded back together that run okay - as long as the alignment was right. Not that I'd own or shoot one, but just saying it's possible.

AR .300 BO Subsonic - 220g function question

Havok - I didn't have success with IMR-4227 either. Any other ideas?

AR .300 BO Subsonic - 220g function question

Thanks - I suspected the can would help in this case. I don't have one, so this is as good an excuse as any to get one...
