I've got the original spring--it's the one that slams the slide. The old national matches had an 11# recoil spring but I think mine has a 16# as original.

Thanks for the reply. I have shot 230 ball in my Colt as well, but there seems to be a lot of slide slam with these light springs. I think I switched the 16# slide spring to a 18# and it tamed it down some. I also changed the firing pin spring to a heavier one and that helped as well...
I want to convert my 70 series Colt to shoot 230 FMJ ball ammo. Anyone have suggestions? I assume I'll have to change some springs as the original ones seem to be on the light side.
