    Muzzle crowning.

I would try different ammo and bullet weights before I worried about recrowning the barrel. I would probably replace the Anderson barrel before redoing the crown on it if it was me.

    My Latest Acquisition: Astra A-70

Glad to hear you like the Astra A-70. The Firestar's shoot the same way. I have put a lot of rounds through my 40 caliber Firestar M40 over the years.

.410 BBB buckshot for self/home defense

Or that one is disabled and can't handle shooting a 12 gauge. My wife is one. She is pretty short and has MS, there is no way she can comfortably shoot a 12 gauge. She use to use a youth 20 gauge until she was diagnosed with MS, but the 20 is out too.

.410 BBB buckshot for self/home defense

As mentioned , I did a bunch of testing with 3" 410 buckshot loads. They will work just fine for personal/home defense. Depending on the manufacturers, the 5 pellets from a 3" 410 buckshot load are still traveling at the same fps as 9 pellets out of a 2 3/4"12 gauge buckshot load. And one won't...

Which bolt action .22 LR rifle would you recommend for accuracy from a bench or in the field?

The Savage rifles come with Weaver style bases. You have two choices when it comes to a one piece picatinny rail; EGW or DIP. EGW offers 0 MOA or 20 MOA bases: https://egwguns.com/scope-mounts-rings/standard-rifle-scope-mounts/savage/?model=637 DIP Inc offers 0 MOA or 25 MOA bases...

Which bolt action .22 LR rifle would you recommend for accuracy from a bench or in the field?

I have stuck with Savage MkII rifles with their heavy Varmint profile barrels since they all shoot well for me and I don't compete. Yes the CZ and other more expensive rifles are more refined/finished and are generally more suited for completion use. Go with what fits your budget and your...

Arken scopes on sale for 25% off with SAVE25% code

I have an old Bushnell Elite 4300 6-24 MIL-DOT, an Arken SH 6-24, and an Arken SH 6-24J (Japanese glass). The Bushnell is slightly better than the Arken SH 6-24J. I can say that the SH 6-24J is definitely worth the extra $100 over the standard SH 6-24. I won't replace the standard Arken SH 6-24...

    My Latest Acquisition: Astra A-70

I have to agree that the Astra 70 does look a lot like the Star Firestar. And if the Astra is built as well as the Star, it should be a nice shooter. I currently have a Firestar M43 9mm and Firestar M40 40 S&W. I wouldn't mind getting the First M45 45ACP to finish the collection.

.410 BBB buckshot for self/home defense

I have not tested any 410 BBB shells so can't comment. I have done quite a bit of testing with 00 and 000 buckshot 410 shells though. I have started a couple of threads in the shotgun section about my testing. I will make a few suggestions. Stick with 00 buckshot if your 410 barrel has a...

    6 ARC Rifle options

I assembled my upper and went with an Odin Works 18" barrel. I have been very pleased on how it shoots. I have only shot factory 105Gr and 108Gr ammo so far. Here are a couple of phots showing my final 5 shot groups with both. The final 5 shot groups are circled in yellow. The others are from...

Bayonet on rifle? Yes or No?

I still have a M7 bayonet from when I was in the Army. I ended up building a M16A2 clone to go with it. Oh the fond memories of bayonet training in Basic Training at Fort Leonardwood in 1989. 🤪 And we trained a little bit with bayonets mounted when training up for the Bosnian peace keeping...

GOA gets VA Veteran Gun Ban repealed.

I had my 6 month checkup with my primary care doctor at the local VA clinic yesterday. And Yes I was asked again by the nurse and doctor about my mental health, firearms and if I can manage my own finances. I was also asked again about toxic exposures too, I told them both that everything I was...

    The Colt 9mm Carbine - A Mini-Review

I think I am using a New Frontier buffer spacer, I would have to remove it from the rifle to double check. I know the New Frontier spacers are around $10 or less. Or one can always use quarters. The spacers are nice in that they fit into the bottom of the spring and stay in place. Or as...

    The Colt 9mm Carbine - A Mini-Review

I am still running the stock 5.5 ounce CMMG buffer and spring with a spacer and it runs fine. I haven't had any issues with that setup while running bulk 115Gr ammo and my 115Gr reloads. I will probably try to add a little weight to that buffer or buy one that weighs between 7.5 and 8.5 ounces...

    The Colt 9mm Carbine - A Mini-Review

I got to shoot numerous SMG's while in the Army. My top 4 in no particular order are the M3A1, MP5, Colt SMG, and Swedish K. I originally built my Colt SMG clone as a braced pistol using a CMMG dedicated lower, CMMG bolt and barrel, And a Fulton Army upper. I have since permanently installed a...
