    Why do people like certain calibers?

    same reason they have "ford vs. chevy" loyalty or "chocolate vs. vanilla" loyalty- 'cause folks is folks ;) or, put another way, the human thought process often tends to reduce variables as a means to reach sufficiently useful decisions. sometimes we'd rather make a choice and stick with it...
