Open carry a Shotgun inside Big Bend Nat park?

Texas does not allow open carry of a handgun. I have not gone through the course for my CHL so I can conceal carry. I am just curious about long guns at the moment. I understand that I probably won't need it but it would be helpful to know that I could.

Open carry a Shotgun inside Big Bend Nat park?

The law is sort of vague which is why i'm asking.:( It is technically not illegal to carry a long arm in public where it is not prohibited(i.e. gov. office/P.O./polling place/airport secure zone/etc.) But one can get nipped for disturbing the peace if i'm not mistaken:cuss: . I would really like...

Open carry a Shotgun inside Big Bend Nat park?

I've got a trip to Big Bend in three weeks and since there is a population of black bear and some wild cats reported to inhabit the park so I want to see if I can pack the old 12ga in on my hike. Thanks, Santiago

    Why the 5.7?

I don't know if the SS190 is still sold/available to consumers but it imparts 313 ft/lbs of energy fired out of the pistol barrel from what I have read. Hornady on the other hand has V-Max rounds that carry a muzzle velocity of 2,034 fps carrying a 40 grain projectile with a muzzle energy of...

    Why the 5.7?

In energy I think its around 80% of 9mm ft/lbs which isn't bad in a handgun that has about 50% more capacity than 9mm and a sub gun that has nearly double compared to others. Not a 5.7 fanboy but its a cool little round.

Colorado: Planning on going up Parry's Peak

Interesting holster. I think I might want a leg platform because I will have a framed backpack on though :-/ The straps for it would be right around that area. The waist straps might be a bit close to that too...

Colorado: Planning on going up Parry's Peak

My Pistol is a 40 Smith. I didn't know if it would be easier to carry legally for a long gun or pistol. I'll probably just take the XDM.

Colorado: Planning on going up Parry's Peak

Is anyone familiar with the laws surrounding this mountain as far as posession and carriage of Pistols/Long guns? We plan on hiking/climbing up and camping somewhere near the tree line in the night staying for 2-3 days. I have space in my backpack for my pistol/ammo and I could set up a...

Do you buy most of your guns new or used?

If I can afford a new item(not just guns) I buy it new. My reasoning is: 1. Buying new keeps the manufacturers in business. 2. Buying used items from vendors/stores gives them too much profit compared to a new item which has a set MSRP level expected.(this is seen a lot in the used media...
