    Is this a 243 or 270?

Just as you should not be able to get a .270 to chamber in a .243 you should not be able to get a .270 bullet to go anywhere near into a .243 barrel muzzle. It should be obvious. Get some calipers and measure the muzzle ID or try to stick a .270 bullet into the muzzle. Do all to be certain.

Unique vs 231 with LPM in 45 ACP?

Considering how filthy Unique is at .38Spl and .45Acp pressures the LPM's might offer an advantage. I loaded .38Super IPSC major loads with SPP, SPPM, and SR primers interchangeably once upon a time so IME standard to magnum formulation differences are small. YMMV

Brass cleaning, and primer pocket concern

Of all the 10's of thousands of rounds I've reloaded I've never de-primed before tumbling and never once have I had a failure to go bang because of my de-priming and reloading practices. If there are any accuracy gains to be found I don't shoot pistols well enough to find it.

    Gun club costs and usage

The range I'm a member of has just increased dues to $100 a year, or $80 for seniors, with a $100 initiation fee. Rifle ranges to 600 yds, multiple pistol ranges, and a general purpose shotgun range. About 30 miles from the house. It has key access. There's another range that is action...

First shot - How old were you and what was it

I'm too old to remember the age of my first shot but it was from a Daisy BB gun and my first shot from a powder gun was from a .22lr bolt gun of some sort about 60 or so years ago.

Single stack DA compacts w/ hammers: what’s left?

ThomasT and BreechFace mention the Smith 39-2. This could also include 439's also but both are DA/SA pistols and the mags are almost non-existent. If I understand correctly the DA/SA could possibly be converted to DAO only. Once in a conversation with Tommy Campbell he told me his...

Single stack DA compacts w/ hammers: what’s left?

I'll mention the 290RS again. Yes, it's discontinued but still can be found. It's very small but slightly heavy for what it is however the weight helps it be a soft shooter. Another discontinued Sig DAO I'll mention is the P250SC. It is a double stack but the medium and small grip modules...

When California was once home to some of America's most talented Gun Smiths.

One more great Cali smith was Jim Boland. May he RIP. In the early days of action shooting many of the greats were from California.

    Swap M41 for Supermatic?

I spent years looking for a M41 or HS Victor w/military grip that I could afford. I finally found a Victor but I'd settle for either any day in good condition. Consider yourself lucky if you have either one.

Double Action Trigger Only: To "Stage" or Not??

Staging triggers was used in PPC competitions among other places. PPC was where the great Python v Smith trigger pull debates raged.

    Browning Auto-5

I've always seen A-5 reference the Auto-5. The new current production gun is the A5 w/o a dash.

    Shooting Reloads in Matches

All I ever shot in competition was reloads. Unlike some others I tended to load and shoot my worst brass for lost brass matches. I never had an ammo or gun related failure while doing so. YMMV
