I think you would be more satisfied with one of these in the long run. no clip guide, but the new mags can be loaded through the top, so you could use strippers to top it off. mauser action. 16'' bbl with flash suppressor. whats not to love?
CarmenSanDiego, you keep missing it. this is your answer. if you want to become proficient with ANY caliber, be it .50 AK, or .45acp, you simply need to handload. you could easily get those .50 AK rounds under fifty cents a pop. buy virgin brass, and load up if thats the caliber you want...
Yes, they are totally different beasts, which is why I made a distinction between them :)
Auto Ordinance makes a phenomenal walnut and steel m1a1 repro stock.
Choate makes a great composite/metal folder, that also locks open.
This is my AO carbine
ahh, I see. my folder doesn't "lock" per se, but it has a detent. perhaps AO improved their M1A1 stocks?
In any case, the Choate stock *does* lock open, and locks up solidly. for a modern folder, it can't be beat, especially for the price.
I have an Auto Ordinance M1A1, and the stock exhibits none of those problems. I think you may have had a bad experience with a cheap repro, like a ramline. AO for classic and Choate for modern folders are the way to go!
How can you resist her beautiful curves and lines? how the safety gracefully compliments the beavertail, the smooth sweep of the cuts on the slide... I have never found a gun, long or short, that fits my hand as well as my Kimber, nor another design that can match her beauty.
Catherine is her...
I bought my Kimber Custom II for 750 new. the only things I've done to it are swap out the full length guide rod for a GI plug, and put meprolight sights on her.
If I were to do it all over again, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Custom II
what brands/ models of red dot sights are there that are reasonably good quality, without taking out a loan to get it:eek:'
a 1-2 power, any reticle (crosshairs, dots, chevrons, etc.)
decent quality, in the $100-200 range.
are they any good? i am kinda looking at mod.#TG8030MB2, (2X42, 4 reticles in green or red, integral scope mount)also, it will not be used for anything beyond 200 yards, so the 2x magnification isn't an issue.
does anyone have experience with these? what are the pros/cons
