The lop on the BLR are too long for my build. The only others that I have found to have excessive lop are Italian shotguns. You're mileage may vary.

What would be a good choke for 00 buck and foster slugs? Some say for slugs nothing tighter than imp. cyl., but I don't know.

It really depends on the primers they used. A lot of surplus have very hard primers as they were intended to military arms, especially machine guns. Browning set their guns up to run sporting ammo.

Our son bought one at Bass Pro. I picked it up to test the trigger (non accutrigger). It must be over 12lbs. The bolt lift is horrendous for any bolt gun. I told him to call a Savage gunsmith tomorrow to get this straightened out.

I was at a friends range sighting in an old Weaver k3 or k 2.5. Once I had it dialed in he asked me if I could hit his target at 200 yards. I knew I could if I could get the elevation correct. I shot 15 times and he sent his grandson to retrive the target. It had 15 holes and not a bad group...
