Quick, Dumb AR cleaning time question

The excessive cleaning is a military make work. Also you don't need anything to jam in the gas tube. Just do a basic clean, it will be a fraction of that guy's hour.

British police liked them too in N. Ireland.

    Thoughts on the mini 14?

Find a 6.8SPC version for a good hitting cartridge.

    Thoughts on the mini 14?

They were more fragile and less accurate than AR back in the day. The barrel harmonics has been fixed, don't know about the fragility. But Ruger came out with a nice budget AR too. If you can have an AR15, go that route. A Mini 30 and BRASS 7.62X39 is GTG, if you find an affordable one.

TV Show For The Percussion Revolver Enthusiast

Pinkerton's first episode had a former sharpshooter as the victim, you can name your price for an original green coat. I liked it, knew it was Canadian. For TV, it was alright.

AR Builds -- What Parts Did You Choose and Why??

To build a clone of the R6520 Govt carbine I chose a Del-ton 16" 1-9 pencil barrel, an Anderson upper A2 parts kit, an A2 bird cage muzzle, a Colt A2 upper, an Anderson lower and a CMMG 6 position stock. These are assembled and now waiting for the upper large hole to small hole lower conversion...

Quantifiable Criteria for a "Woods" gun?

As has been said, it depends on what critters are around. If there aren't bears the size of an SUV, a .357 with a variety of loads and some HKS speed loaders can do a lot. Large or two legged predators would make me pack a long gun and vary my sidearm load to help me reach it.

Does the M855 Penetrate Steel Helmets Better Than M193?

The M193 breaks and peels at the cannelure, becoming unstable. The M16A2 was designed around the round, but rebarrelled for the longer tracer- 1-9 to 1-7.

    What can handle .45 Super?

The owners of the concept, Ace, pressured Wolff into dropping the 30# 10MM spring for the M1911 platforms many years ago to thwart what you are suggesting.

Why does everyone do their own thing with AR-10?

The AR platforms are easy to build, and doing so helps one understand the rifle better. If one takes the time to get parts, it can be cost effective compared to buying a complete rifle.
