Librarian, The "he" in each case is my OH FFL agent. One would think that California would be happy to ship as many guns as possible OUT of the state.

My FFL agent tells me that, if I buy a gun from a California resident or FFL dealer, he can't accept the gun for transfer to me because he hasn't applied to CA for the permit. Is he correct?

chestnut ridge, Thanks for your comments. Is yours a 26" barrel? I run a lot of 148 gr .38 Spcl wadcutters through my S&W Model 52 and thought the Ruger No. 1 like yours would be a fun rifle for that round.

I know that Ruger made a No.1 in .357Mag with a CHP logo. Did Ruger make a No.1 in .357Mag without the logo and with a 26" barrel?

What's the difference between 220STs with old rails and new rails? Some time ago, before I was interested in 220STs, there was a discussion on old vs new. Now that I'm in the market, is there a serial number after which "new" rails were cut? Thanks.
