looks like a winner to me. Had an Alaska gold prospector who worked winters with me who preferred a shotgun when in bear country. His was for defense. My shotguns to date have only brought down birds and squirrels. I would feel at ease with this load though.
while I love my wheelguns, some folks don't. I live somewhere where we all have that choice. And proud of it! My buddy is happy with her tacticool black automagic things that hold more shells than I reload in an hour. Revolvers are not neato enough. I'm much more driven by history. Indiana...

His isn't the only one. My Finn reworked 1932 has a horrible trigger, sloppy, super-duper heavy... otherwise a very fun rifle and way accurate with consistent hits out to 500m with the cheapest ammo I can find. Ballistically a .308 to boot...

The beauty of deer hunting is they show up at any distance. Keeps it fun! I love my Leupolds, usually a fixed 4x. Never thought about bringing more than one rifle at a time...
That looks like an excellent idea. I have read (I think in the Dixie Gun catalog reference section) properly adjusted revolver hammers don't touch the nipple? I will have to check mine out! Excuse me for posting without researching but at the moment I don't have immediate access to my...
My FAL project gun. Almost every part was new-in-the-wrap. Except L1a1 cocking handle, one screw and muzzle device which were refinished... still looking... Its seen a lot of use and no longer looks new and cost a heck of a lot more to build than buy assembled. I just had to tho...
I've thought about this all night at work and think maybe the caliber is secondary in the decision. Maybe first find the "right" rifle. Maybe one that is well used and looks like it has hunted the dark continent? Of course it would have to be a classic African caliber. A classic Rigby or...
nice discussion! personally I prefer the 375 h&h. I can handle the recoil and hit whatever I aim at. Nice capacity. The PH likely would carry a stopper rifle if needed anyway. I think a rigby with its history and prestige and enormous case is impressive. Or consider a .450 Rigby. The Lott...
Hello, everyone. I'm George in Oregon. "A freakin' lion" was what little Tommy said when he was reading out loud to his mother. She raised her eyebrow and looked down onto the page was a picture of a lion with the caption, "African Lion."
I used to bring home all the goodies my dealer...
The model 60 was my first rifle, Dad brought it home on my 13th birthday. It is very accurate. Tight tolerances make this gun jam up way too quickly though. Pretty easy to take down and clean just beware of the recoil spring it likes to kink or fly when coming out. Many folks prefer the...
I like to put the muzzle in a pot of hot water pulling the patched cleaning rod from the breech end acts like a pump drawing the water up into the bore. Afterwards clean and oil normally. Works great for blackpowder rifles also: I pull the barrel from the stock and put the breach end into the...
