    Advice for a new hunter

    Check the regs. In MI there's a limit to how big the shot can be. I have hunted turkeys but other than the little bit of advice above I don't have much to offer. The birds always had my number.

    Deer pass brainworm disease to moose. So they don't get along well on that level. A moose transplant program in MI back in the 1920s or '30s failed partly due to brainworm.

    Grouse hunting consists of walking around in beautiful country with a light shotgun, firing a shot every now and then. If you have a hunting partner conversation is OK while walking too. What's not to like?

    My Ithaca double barrel is finally done!

    If I had one I would have to try some hand-thrown clays with it. Used to shoot them with a .44 Mag Contender and CCI Hotshot shells with nine shot, I think. Lots of fun and we also hit a few.
