Had a stuck Berry's plated projo in a 38 yesterday.
When careful use of oak dowel (sorry) and penetrating oil didn't budge it, I used the (googled) trick of putting the gun in the freezer for an hour... And it popped right out with two whacks!
Fearing condensation on internals, I popped the...
Have been shooting the Lee-Enfield No. 4 Mk. 1 lately and piling up brass... need to order a set of .303 British dies.
But I already have 7.7 Japanese dies on hand for the Arisaka 99... if the only difference between the two rounds ('tis said) is the rim, could the 7.7 Arisaka dies resize my...
I can add two years: 1978-1980 with a Lee Loader.
Back in the "hobby" this week with new Lyman T-Mag II- just because 6.5x50 Arisaka ammo is $1/shot. $92 bucks for 4 boxes delivered.
At $500 for the press and all the rest, it's become a matter of principle. Hope I live long enough to break...
Castro will die one day, likely soon. Cuba going capitalist soon thereafter is a likely possibility.
The U.S. sent many many surplus small arms there to help Batista in the 1950's. I think it quite possible there are warehouses of Garands and Carbines in Cuba.
The old adage about commies...
Linda asked if I wanted any SA battlepacks, but at $49 each I declined.... I still have some I bought for $22.95 and paying twice that kills me.
Besides the SA is nice clean ammo but Berdan primed- I can't reload that.
The 2A just came.
Not bad! Won't need a synthetic stock; there's two small (1/2") odd grained strips on the left side- other than that it's a 2A (not an A1) pretty much like my other one.
Maybe a little smellier and dirtier. Looking at a lot of cleaning hours here to new rifle but it will...
Have one coming today... and it will only shoot 7.62x51, or .308 brass loaded way down. The "low recoil" .308 ammo is also said to be OK.
Got one @$169 when they first came out; it shoots fine (2A). Hoping for a 2A1.
Synthetic stock if it's a mess...
I recently removed a muzzle brake that had been on a rifle for almost 20 years, and it had the crud of the centuries inside it where the person couldn't get to it when cleaning. Green and black. :scrutiny:
Periodic removal of muzzle brakes for cleaning, when you can, is a real good idea...
Water for the salts; the ammonia helps remove copper, thus 2 for 1 with Windex.
I'm using Ballistol & water lately. Makes me feel better about putting water down a rifle barrel.
