    Extreme heat & extreme cold effect on ammo?

    I'm thinking about keep a spare gun in my car in a bolted down strong box. However, I'm concerned about how the reliability of the ammo might be effected when exposed to sub-freezing temps in the winter and 100+ degrees in the summer. Thoughts? Ideas?

    I've been told by more than one person that a 230grn bullet shot out of a 5" barrel is best that one can expect for the .45ACP caliber. These same people have said that from a 4.25" barrel one would be better served with a 200grn, or lighter, bullet rather than the 230grn and that neither one...

    Pretty much identical except for the trigger guard which MIGHT be an issue with regards to holsters. The 5906 is below on the upper right ... ... and the 659 is above on the lower left.

    Hey, DMK. We both joined on exactly the same day :) If I boil it, how do I make sure that the inside is dry when I'm done and will not rust? Same for the spring? Just dry iy with a cloth? Can't dry the inside with a cloth because I can't even get in there or see an drops of water. Sig Sauer P239...

    I took the mags apart and used Q-tips but I don't think that I got all of it out as I had trouble reaching the middle of the mags. How about taking the mags apart and soaking them in gasoline?

    I just noticed that the inside of some of my magazines have cosmoline in them. Could this have negative impact on the reliability of the ammo? Also, how do I clean the inside of the mags?

    Why can't they make the PPK in a 9mm? The PPS is the same size (although different shape) as a PPK. The Kahr MK9 is about the same size. Ditto for the Colt Pocket Nine. The Rohrbaugh R9 is even smaller and lighter. So why can't somebody make the PPK in a 9mm?

    Working in a gun store, I can tell you that is a pretty good price for a new one -- at least for this part of the country.

    I own a few LDAs ... ... including the P14.45LDA. No problems with breakage (knock wood) but they are a bit picky when it comes to hollowpoints. Seem to like Winchester Supreme.

    Same here. 239 in .357SIG during the warmer months and 229 in .40S&W during the cooler months.
