I've had good luck with a 150 grain bullet and a medium weight charge of H4895, but loads in that range tend to work well for most cartridges in this class.

Action noise is significant. I have a .22 AR upper that puts out very little muzzle noise with a suppressor, but I still get a loud noise from the action cycling. When I stick that same can on my bolt action .22 it's quieter than an air gun.

It works quite well. The CMMG upper has a lot of action noise, and with subsonics that's about all you hear. With subs on a bolt action it's quieter than a pellet gun. Here's a video with supersonics. With subs you don't get the "pop"...

I posted this gun earlier in the thread (and with the can in a separate thread) but now that I have a suppressor here it is again. 6.5" CMMG .22 upper, with a suppressor I made myself on a Form 1.

I don't specifically do it to help my shooting, but in the last 5 years I stopped being a couch potato and got into shape. I've noticed it helps quite a bit, especially with action shooting. Not being winded after sprinting through a stage makes a big difference.

The blast baffle and muzzle threads are 303 stainless. Everything else is 6061 aluminum.

I have shot a friend's .45 Osprey (shooting .40 through it) and it was Hollywood quiet. Literally sounded like a pellet gun. We were shooting it wet, though.

For a bolt action in a battle environment the Lee-Enfield No. 4 wins hands down. Acceptable battle accuracy, the fastest cycling action, most capacity (10 rounds), and good sights. It may not be the best sporter or precision rifle, but when the Huns are coming over the wall those extra rounds...
