Need help reloading for over headspace 8x57 S.

I did test fire my rifle with the 5 factory cartridges, I had with no problems. I should have saved a unfired one for measurements, but will pick up a box of the same brand. The shoulder is wider. I will post later this week with measurements. Thanks.

Need help reloading for over headspace 8x57 S.

Does greasing or oiling work????????? I understand that oil does not compress. I just found 5 Prvi factory rounds, they look good enough to try. I will remove the follower & floorplate, shooting off bags trying one. I don't forsee any problems. I think what my problem is, is using using "saami...

Need help reloading for over headspace 8x57 S.

My concern is excessive headspace & case separation. If you expand your neck to the next biggest size (.338 common size) & then carefully resize a portion of the neck back to .323, you will leave a small shoulder which will physically stop the cartridge & upon firing, will allow the shoulder to...

Need help reloading for over headspace 8x57 S.

I bought a nice German Custom 98 with a rib. I slugged the bore & it was for the .323 bullet. I tried my no-go & field gauges & the bolt closed on both. I then shortened a 30-06 case running it through the 8x57 dies, bumping the shoulder back until it closed snug on it. I loaded it & shot it, no...

Anybody try the 160 Grain FTX in the 303 Savage?

Thanks, I just got a neat 99 Savage 20" carbine in 303 Savage. I have found Brass & Dies and want to load up 100 rounds, maybe wanting to pop a deer with it. Has anybody tried loading & feeding the Hornady 160 Grain FTX bullets in one? Thanks in advance.

Is this 1886 Winchester the correct factory configuration?

I bought this out of an estate with some other guns. I am not very familiar with 86's. It was made in 1911, 45-90, pistol grip stock, takedown 26" barrel. It has a beautiful bore, but has been high polished, dip blued & the stock has been refinished. My question is the cartridge tube being...

    Suggested 1st 9mm Pistol Can???????

Thanks, I ended up getting a CGS Mod 9 & an older NOS Tirant 45 (Non-convertible to K configuration). I used Griffin Armaments Cam Loc. I love the suppressors, I think you guys helped me make good choices & I don't have an opinion on the Cam Lok yet.

    Suggested 1st 9mm Pistol Can???????

Hi, I come from a SMG Silencer background, MK9's, MK9K, etc. I have tried several 9mm pistol cans over the years & never really liked the suppression levels they offer, I think I might be spoiled by the big volume, low frequency qualities of the voluminous SMG cans. I thought it might be time to...

Physics question on recoil? I'm not smart enough.......

OK, 2 same rifles, different chamberings, same rifle weight, same caliber, same weight bullet & same velocity. But one is more efficient, the efficient one uses 55 grains of powder while the less efficient one uses 65 grains of powder. Same recoil or is the more effient one have less?

Need help on reloading 270 Win for Whitetail

The biggest scope I have is an old simmons 6.5-20x44 Whitetail Classic. It has been rock solid. I'll use that for load development.
