Compared to what other gun. A buddy of mine has a Ruger Blackhawk single action. That gun is extremely accurate. There some very accurate guns out there. I also depends on what ammunition is being used. I'm a Colt guy BTW and I love my Python.

My friend has a S&W Nickle 10-5 38. Special. It has Detroit Police marked on the strap. I would rate it's condition between 90-95%. Any idea of it's value?

And I thought $525 for a case (500 rounds) of 300 WM Federal Gold Medal was expensive 5 years ago. That works out to $21 per box. With today's prices you definitely have to reload.

There are some good M1A smiths out there that can tighten up your groups for a few bucks. A well made M1A set up right with a medium to heavy factory barrel should be able to shoot 1.0 to 1.5 MOA with Match Ammunition.

The down side of the HK is has this 10lb bolt that slams into you every time you pull the trigger. The other pain in the butt problem is if you reload you will hate the gun. It chews up your brass and spits it out with full length grooves burned into the case. Don't get me wrong I like my HK...

The biggest mistake most people make is they buy more optical power then they need. Example you buy a 6.5 by 20 when a 3 by 9 would be a better choice. If the gun is a target gun then go with the higher power but if this is a hunting rifle lower the magnification.

Ideally a 26 inch barrel would be the best for the 3006 or .308. But since you are specifying a 20" or 24" barrel go with the 24"

Quality rifles or guns in general cost money. Most of the posters before have explained it one way or another why the gun in general is expensive. I bought my SA Super Match back in 1988. It cost me $1800 back then. With inflation that gun would cost in today's money about $3,300.

You could go a couple different ways on this. AR-15 and I agree 20 or 24 inch barrel with the flat top. I would also get a barrel float tube (Free floats the barrel) and a good aftermarket trigger. Should get you .75 MOA or better with quality ammunition. Or you could go with a good bolt...

Gee I paid $325 back in 1996 for my stainless and it came with two 20 round magazines. I don' think it is going sell at that price. $1000 plus is a little hard to swallow for a Limited Mini 14.
