Ridiculous, yet not surprising at the least.

    Ruger New Vaquero

Looks fun! I just bought my first single action (super blackhawk), and I have been bitten by the SA bug!

    Rage brodhead = bad day..

I use rage broadheads and that o-ring is for keeping the blades CLOSED. Without the o-ring the blades would simply flop around. After a shot, the oring is usually destroyed by the blades opening. You also have to check to make sure that the groove in the blade is sitting fully behind the o-ring...

How many people here deer hunt with buckshot?

Hey, me neither! :uhoh: But I most certainly have seen the shots and paced them off, more to prove to myself what I had seen.

How many people here deer hunt with buckshot?

Michigan has a no rifle rule in the southern half of the lower peninsula (where I live). So when I'm up north I use my lee-enfield sporter, but locally I use my shotgun with buckshot. My 870 with a 26" barrel and a modified choke patterns about the size of a basketball at 45 yards. Almost all of...

traded for old rifle need help identifying

That definitely looks like a Finn Mosin, not sure of the exact model. Have a gunsmith check that chamber because it was NOT originally chambered for 7.62x51 (.308). If it checks out you can most definitely hunt deer with it. I use a soviet M38 for deer hunting and it works very well. 7.62x54r is...

    I got these two rifles...

The wiki article on krag rifles is pretty long so it may have some useful info... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krag-J%C3%B8rgensen The Russian one is a Soviet training rifle built by the Tula arsenal I believe.

    Trade M1 Carbine for Garand?

Thanks for those links ulflyer. Yes, at close inspection it seems that the front sight was filed slightly. A "new" front sight is indeed in order.

    Trade M1 Carbine for Garand?

Exactly. I was thinking of getting a sight from Fulton Armory http://www.fulton-armory.com/ and having it installed (or buying the tool to do it myself). Although I want a "shooter" I just don't want to "bubba customize" it. Half the reason it's in such good shape was because I was too worried...

    Trade M1 Carbine for Garand?

The rear sight is a ramp style site meaning the only elevation adjustment is moving from 100 yards to 200 etc. Basically it is fine windage adjustment and course elevation. The fine elevation zeroing was supposed to be done by filing the front sight.

    Trade M1 Carbine for Garand?

O.K., ya got me! OK after checking out the CMP website and seeing "Field Grade" rifles for $495 I am definitely going to keep my carbine. Mine doesn't have any import marks or anything, and seems to be a great collectors item. Here is a quick question though, mine has the adjustable rear...

    Trade M1 Carbine for Garand?

For the last 16 years I've had an M1 carbine decorating the inside of my gun cabinet. Recently I've decided to see if I can trade it for a shooter grade M1 Garand. I never really felt right modifying the carbine for accuracy or anything and as far as I know it's all "original" (I realize these...

Weighing the Risks of Armed Defense

Just to clarify, I completely agree with you. I carry every day, everywhere I go (unless there are metal detectors). People are F-ing crazy, I see it every day (I work with the homeless). I have seen people stabbed over the most trivial things. I will NOT be a victim. So as far as that's...
