If the deer is close and running then buckshot would probably be a better choice, but otherwise you're probably better off with a slug or center fire.

Long time no talk THR, it's almost deer season again! I recently bought a new scope Nikon BuckMasters 4-12x50mm. I already had Weaver rings and bases for my last scope, but they rings were too low for this one, so do you think the 1" high rings would be high enough? I bought the see thru today...

I'd go with the .243, 12 ga or 30-30 for quickness.

Well, why not use 150-190 grains? You definitely won't get as much meat damage with a 150-175 grain, depending you choose the right bullet.
