I called today at work and waited on hold about 40 minutes. The person answering the phone was very nice and helpful. Said my hearing was way better than his and that it is more than likely just the ram rubbing on the aluminum base and not to be concerned about it. It will probably go away...
Thanks for all of the replies.
I shot a video of it on my phone and uploaded it to YouTube to try and capture the sound and it worked. It is nosier than the sound in the video, but you will get the idea.

If you watch the HD version, you can kind of see streaks in...
I did add 30 weight oil to the ram but it still made a rasping dragging sound. I just isn't smooth as butter like some that I have seen in some stores. I was trying to determine if this is normal on a new 550b press due to the surfaces needing to wear in.
I finally broke down and bought a Dillon 550b. I originally purchased the Lee Classic Cast Turret and will not be getting rid of it, I just got very frustrated with the priming system and 4 pulls per round.
It appears the ram has some lube from the factory, but I'm not sure how much. The...
Can you elaborate on the on the price? When ever I compare PD to MG, I think the PD's are much cheaper. Maybe I'm looking at the wrong thing, but they just didn't compare when I checked prices.
Thanks, I thought I might have to play with the load some more.
Yes, the leading is in the beginning of the barrel, near the chamber.
I'm using a Lee Auto Disk and I think it goes from 4.8 grains and 5.2 grains for the next larger hole. I know I couldn't get it to to to 5.0 grains.
Can someone please post some pictures of what light leading looks like?
I'm new to reloading the 45 ACP. I have a full size 1911 and it seemed to have quite a bit of leading, but I really don't have anything to compare it to.
Can someone post some pictures of light leading and heaving...
They just started selling rifles at the Wal-Mart near me and while they do have the Rem 700s in a lot of calibers, non are exactly what I want and they are $400 plus tax (7% or so).
I'm a recoil pussy right now, and I really want a 6.5x55 Swede for my deer rifle. I got to shoot a friends...
I'll probably buy it and make payments on it for a few months. I got to shoot a friends 22-250 and I had a lot of fun. So, I'll probably enjoy shooting this.
Thanks for all of the replies. It is giving me the confidence to say yes.
I should have said that I dont see any rust, and the barrel looks good to me but I'm not an expert.
The end of the barrel doesnt look rusty in person, just a little banged up.
I have a friend that inherited a Remington Model 700 in 22-250. From the barrel markings it looks like this rifle is from 1968, there is no external floor plate on the magazine, and with the safety on the bolt doesn't move.
I tried to take the best pictures i could of the barrel rifling...
Well I finally went ahead and ordered 1k of the Bullseye #1. The only part that sucked, is that I live in Missouri so I have to pay tax. It wasn't much, but pennies matter when reloading.....at least to me.
He should open a different company in KS just for Missouri people. :D
