Reloading 45 LC with Red Dot

It was a windy day on the range today, but I got to try out that 6.0 gr. of Reddot under a 255 SWC. From my 20 inch rifle barrel it chronographed at 966 fps and an extreme spread of 31 fps and a standard deviation of 14 fps. 50 yd. group was not the best of the day, but my old eyes need to...

    Marlin 1894 Serial Number

Thanks for the info, that is what I wanted to know. I am very happy with the rifle. 20 inch tapered octagon barrel and really nice balance. This rifle was either shot a lot, or it was worked over by a gunsmith. the action is very smooth, and it has an excellent trigger pull. So far it has cycled...

    Marlin 1894 Serial Number

I just picked up a used Marlin 1894 Cowboy Carbine Ltd. The serial number is a 94 followed by the Roman numerals IV followed by the last 4 numbers. Can anyone explain the significance of the Roman numerals in the serial number? The serial numbers on my other Marlin lever actions are just numbers.

    Which one speaks to you?

While pump action would be my first choice in shotguns, I never really had an interest in pump action rifles. I do like 22 rimfire rifles and octagon barrels, so #1 would be one of my top choices. I really like shooting 22s, and it's not all that expensive. My second choice would be the 6.5...

    Reloading Advice

For powder in 223, I highly recommend CFE 223. I have also had good results with Varget and Win 748. Hodgdon's website has loading data for these. Varget will also work in the 7.62x51. For the 9mm, I like CFE Pistol, or Power Pistol. I also use 700x for light loads with cast bullets. Get and...

Looking for a 22 LR rifle or carbine for small varmints.

I really like my Ruger 77/22. I have replacement triggers on both the 77 and the 10/22. They were not that expensive, and they were worth it. I have heard many good things about the Ruger American. You should also look at Savage bolt action 22s. I hear they are very accurate. BTW the 77/22 comes...

avan47 Class 1 Score 67 0x Browning 22 Auto Winchester M-22 Subsonic 4/7/2019 Offhand with iron sights at 50 yards, this was hard. I am over 70, and those sights are hard to see. I didn't do much better with a scope though, I need to do more offhand shooting.
