If you encountered someone Open Carrying...

I, too, would be compelled to ask him what he is carrying and if he likes it, etc. and if he is willing, get into a conversation about the various pros and cons of different pistols and calibers.....I'm hopeless....

    What do M1's shoot?

I have an M1 that was converted by Fulton Armory to shoot .308/ 7.62. I had it done at a time when there was very little 30-06 surplus available and .308 surplus was plentiful (it needed a barrel anyway). Of course, Murphy's Law took over and shortly afterwards the reverse happened.....oh...

Could buy a suppressor/silencer but haven't? Why not?

I really want one. or two. For a 9 mm Handgun and long gun, either an AR or a 10/22. But I have to set up a trust here in s. Florida and just haven't gotten to it yet. I will one day..... I can come up with the money but not the time or bother. Yet.

    New GLOCKS

I handled one of the RTF Glock 22's at the SHOT show. I thought it was GREAT. I asked them when it will be coming out in other models, they said just the 22 for now, and maybe others later. It felt just terrific to me, way better than the standard grip.

i would like to know what kind of guns your wife likes to shoot?

Mine has her own Glock 19, a Browning Hi Power, a Browning Pump in 20 g (rarely shot) and she LOVES shooting AK's ( why, I'll never know...don't like them). She also enjoyed shooting a borrowed FAL one time. And she likes 1911's when she has the chance to shoot one, although we don't have any...

Story about an unsafe gun auction

"I was at an outdoor auction in southern Idaho and among the items was a Mossberg shotgun and an old Colt revolver, a single action as I recall. I was digging through boxes and came to the table with the guns and saw some kids handling the revolver and wondered why allowing kids (probably 10-12...

    The French don't ALL suck.

Those are great photos!! I've been to Paris a few times over the years, the last time being in 2004, when I was there for two weeks, and have always had a great time there. Paris reminds me of NYC (where I'm from originally) in a lot of ways. The people who live and work in both cities are very...

Successful Repulsion of Home Invasion (Actual Incident)

Back to the original post Great story, he worked with what he had (and never expected to use), was quick to think on his feet (ouch) and get the old gun into action, and survived and repelled the attack. Outstanding! Now he has lots to think about and has become one of us!! I'd say it...

Turn a stock bolt action into a Scout rifle - which rifle do you start with?

I think Savage offers a lot of functionality and accuracy for the money (and that nice Accu-trigger) , and you don't have to worry about customizing (Bubba-ing) and losing a lot of collector value, especially if you buy a used one... I've run through some intense rifle courses with a couple...

New York State Shooters: Caution: Trading Handguns at the Range

As an ex New Yorker and ex Californian, and ex-Marylander, I can tell you Florida is pretty good about most things 2A related for law abiding citizens. Not perfect, but better than most. Biggest problem is finding a place to shoot in S Florida... I feel for ya. Local county ordinances in...

Turn a stock bolt action into a Scout rifle - which rifle do you start with?

Savage still makes their Scout rifle too. Put a Leupold 2.5 Scout scope on it and you're done. Only thing is it does have removable magazines.

    110g FMJ-RN in .30-06/.308

How do you think they would shoot at lower velocities (reduced loads)? I'm thinking about it too.

Glock 36 or Glock 26....opinions please?

My experiences with both models are the same as Weedmonk's. In addition, I found the 36 recoil and grip unpleasant. No feeding or mechanical problems, just didn't like it.

Ammoman has Federal American Eagle 110 FMJ for $179/500 rounds delivered. Or $329/1K delivered. Pretty good deal, I think.
