    Ultra sonic cleaner for firearms

While Ultra Sonic Cleaners work well on most finishes, certain types of plating can be damaged by them. Robar, for example, warns against the use of Ultra Sonic cleaners for their NP3.

    10-22 help!

No its not "all apart". Take the barrel off the receiver so you can clean the chamber as RC has been telling you.

    The Jeff Cooper Club

Anyone who met Col. Cooper could not help but be impressed by his depth and conviction. Those of us who were honored to spend time with him will be forever changed because of that. An orange Gunsite hat has meaning to many.

Nickle vs Chrome vs Anything else

Just my experience from seeing hundreds of guns with problem finishes... you may have had good results with your personal guns.

Nickle vs Chrome vs Anything else

No, nothing wrong with them... just the fact that hard chrome has little corrosion resistance. I have seen rusted hard chrome guns from all over the US... from many different platers. Hard Chrome is very hard, typically 70-74 Rockwell C scale. NP3 is 48-51 Rockwell C scale. However, Hard...

Nickle vs Chrome vs Anything else

That is not correct. Nickel is a much superior coating than hard chrome. While not quite as "hard" it has corrosion resistance that hard chrome simply does not have. We see hard chrome all the time with rust blooming right through the chrome. If the OP is concerned about a tough...

    Shooting gloves

You're walking to your car.... Three gangbangers surround you.... You yell "Stop... I need to put on my shooting gloves". Seriously... unless you are just playing games, crutches like shooting gloves are a bad idea. If you can't shoot your gun without aids - get another gun that you can handle.

    Shooting gloves

What the h**** are "shooting gloves"? Been shooting almost 60 years.... we always took our gloves OFF to shoot.

XD sight removal with a arbor press.

I do like your attitude and hope you don't think I am raining on your parade. As far as heating is concerned... understand that XD sights are difficult to remove because the dovetails are very tight. This is a mechanical adhesion and not a result of rust, age or loctite. RC pointed out...

XD sight removal with a arbor press.

No disrespect intended but you are wading into deep water here. Your questions and ideas suggest that you have little or any knowledge of what is involved nor do you have the skills necessary. While interesting this will teach you zero about "gunsmithing" (i.e. how to remove XD sights). Few...

    Recommnded Gun Lubricants?

10W30 and ATF mixed 50/50. Use sparingly. Grease of any kind has no business on a carry gun - it attracts and hold dust and lint. We see pistols come in weekly so gummed up with grease that they won't function.

Where did i go wrong with gunbroker ?

Jim... are you sure you were not "typing with an drawl" like you normally do. Maybe Gunbroker could not figure out your bid.:D Sorry fella.... could not resist.;)

XD sight removal with a arbor press.

Check the price of slides... Before you invest in an arbor press. You will be bending or breaking slides with a press so its wise to know how much it will cost you when it happens. Sorry for the sarcasm but most experienced smiths will advise against using a press for this job. We machined a...

    Quick 1911 Questions

A 1911 Thumb Safety has to be fitted to contact and prevent sear movement when engaged. If not done properly it can create a dangerous firearm. This is NOT a job that should be done unless you know what you are doing. Arrange to have it done by a competent pistolsmith.

    wonder what I did wrong

Did you put the top (small) locking block pin in first - before you put the slide release in? If not, the spring on the slide release can get jammed when you try to put the small pin in causing the slide release to malfunction. First thing I would check.
