The .40 would be my preferred caliber but the 9mm isn't bad. You have pluses and minuses with both. On the 9mm, you have lighter loads being shot at your target but you have more ammo in you mag. Plus the ammo is cheap. On the .40, you have heavier loads, less ammo in the mags and more...
