= Verified with PV/Alliant customer service = Alliant to suspend canister powders significantly - Time for comparable powder substitutions again

And just for clarity - the Valleyfield Canadian plant and St. Marks in Florida are both owned by General Dynamics. Radford is a US Gov't facility, operated under contract by BAE Systems. Alliant is merely a customer of these facilities.

Powder Valley and Alliant customer service verified suspension of canister powder production due to global shortage of "nitrocellulose"

Let's keep in mind that Alliant Powder does not own any powder production facilities. Much of their flake powder is made at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant (aka Radford Arsenal), a US Government facility in Radford, VA that is run under contract by BAE Systems. Given that Uncle Sam owns the...

    Powder prices

A big factor in current powder prices is the global shortage of nitrocellulose, the key ingredient in smokeless powder. China and Russia were the two biggest global producers of nitrocellulose. Obviously Russia is out of the picture and China has constrained exports to US and NATO.

    BE-86

So far I've only used it in 9mm as I had other powders on hand for .45, .357 and .44.

    BE-86

I suppose you could say I like BE-86 as well. I've burned 23 lbs of it so far and the FedEx man just dropped off another 8 lb jug about an hour ago.

What exposes you to more lead?

Not all indoor ranges are bad. I shoot at an indoor range weekly, dry tumble, and load around 12k rounds a year. My last blood lead level was a 2. The range I frequent has very good ventilation and filtration though.

    Montana Gold?

It seems like Montana Gold has been out of stock on everything for awhile. Now I see at the top of their web page that the entire bullet plant is for sale. I realize there are other quality jacketed bullet manufacturers (RMR, Precision Delta and Zero come to mind) but it is always sad to see a...

    Alliant v. Hodgdon prices

The two companies have very different business models. Hodgdon is a powder company. Vista Sporting Products is an ammunition company that also happens to sell some powder, primers & bullets. Vista's SEC filings state that majority of sales for Sporting Products is from ammunition (not...

How many reloads on your 9mm?

Same here - reload until they split (rarely) or I lose them at the range.
