I had the exact same thing happen to my 16ga double. I just squeezed some liquid solder under the rib, clamped it for a few hours, held great even after shooting.
I had one in 20X, on a Savage 22-250. Don't remember the name but the spring was to soften the recoil. Mine was extremely accurate and went back to its original position after every shot. The spring was also adjustable for stiffness. Still kicking myself for selling it.

Thanks JRFOXX for setting them straight. The herald and News seem to be anti-gun but apparently do not have the backbone to come right out with it. They are in favor of banning teachers from being allowed to protect themselves.
