444 Marlin
Belton Deer Hunter,
Don't confuse the 444 Marlin with a 44 Mag. The 444 is a rifle cartridge.
$ 450 would depend on the make, model, and condition of the rifle.
I think new in box Marlin model 444 run about this price to a little more at the gunshop.
Hey,
I am picking up a used Ruger 44 mag carbine (the old model, not the deerfield). A potential hog gun for the Florida swamps.
I was wondering if any one has had experiance with this carbine, what loads do they like? Will they cycle reliably with the heavier bullets? Are there any loads...
Hey Target Shooter
Is that cheekpiece a factory item with the Varmit Rifle or is that one of your additions? If an add on where did you get it?
Sincerely,
Bernie
Sako, Tikka recall
There seems to be some confusion about this recall.
I blame Sako and Berretta for not making it much more public. :fire:
Berretta has issued a recall on a run of stainless barrels used on both Sako and Tikka rifles. This recall pertains to a number of different...

Big Pig
Five or six weeks back the local paper, The Lakeland Ledger ran a short article on an enormous hog that had been taken on a ranch just outside of the Green Swamp WMA. 700+ #. Most really big ones down here don't go much over 400#. The guy that killed it got it from a stand with a .270...
I am curious about the .375 JDJ. Does anyone have any experiance with it? Does anyone know if it operates at a preassure that the Marlin model 444 action can handle ( this assumes a re-barrel to .375)? Is there a better model to convert? How does this round compare to the .375 Win?
Thanks...
Gators
Gators are not as dangerous as you seem to think. They are hard to kill, but that is because the brain is so small, and not exactly where you might think it is (reference a good encyclopedia). A .22mag will do the trick just fine as long as it is a brain or spine shot. Many liscenced...
