What's the next round of police trade-in's

Same here. Local shop has them with the Penn State Police logo on the side. Lots of holster wear but far from shot out.

I want a new gun, what to get?

IF you decide to go RIA 1911, get a model that is a step or two up from the base model. The fit and finish is a tick better, and worth the pennies in price difference. RIA makes a 1911 in 9mm.

Rock Island Armory worth buying as 1st 1911?

I'm pretty sure the Tactical version, which has a few added features, is still less than $500. Where in PA are you?

Tooth Chipper, Concept (Hybrid 1911A1/warthog) where can I get this made?

You should just do that to a Glock. A few extra trigger guards and some super glue and viola'.

Rock Island Armory worth buying as 1st 1911?

I have two RIA 1911s. Both run flawlessly. I did a tad of polishing on the ramps but other than that they are both stock. They will eat anything I've tried to run through them. I'm considering buying one in 9mm. The guns that are the 'bare-bones' are not as nice as the fancier models, IMO...

    Machine Gun Helicopter Rides?

I've done this at taxpayer expense. Shooting from a helo requires one to use a large quantity of ammo. It is much, much more practical shooting belt fed weapons. Something you might want to consider. Nearly nothing compares to the fun of hangin' and bangin' from a helicopter.

    Best NM/DCM AR-15?

This is exactly what I use to shoot in Benchrest competition. The lower was actually built by me, on an RRA receiver with a NM trigger installed. The White Oak upper is capable of doing anything I am. The biggest problem I have the the nut behind the trigger gets a little loose. When I...

    Next step up?

Although spending the money on a .22 might seem like a waste, the cost of a practice gun can offset the price of practice ammo in a hurry. A decent practice .22 pistol can be had for $200-300. A big (300-500 round) box of ammo, $15-20. 1000 rounds of cheap 9mm practice ammo will cost almost...

    Patience

That is INSANE!! Nevermind the $700 mistake, the $435 is enough to buy a decent gun and a good bit of practice ammo. That was spent just to get permission to buy a firearm!! I hope it all goes well for you. I'm about two hours west of you and it would take me less than 30 minutes to buy a...

    First Appleseed, my impressions...

It is an Army qual test from the '30s or somewhere there about. When the troops did it they were using bolt guns.

    First Appleseed, my impressions...

I went to an Appleseed a few weeks ago. Getting the sling they sell (or one like it) makes a difference in my opinion. Also, practice before you go, learning the positions and getting into them quickly. As far as a firearm, a semi-auto .22 is well suited. 10/22s, Marlin 795s and...

My wife wants a .22 WMR pistol for self-defense. Now what?

I just saw one of those Kel-tecs at my local shop. It weighs nearly nothing empty. The trigger is surprisingly good for a $325 gun. I'd like to shoot it. I think .22wmr would be suitable for Zombie stopping.

    Oh, The Lowly .22LR

Without any doubt, the only other round even comparable to the .22lr is a 12ga. The OP stated that perhaps the time may come for someone to thin the fleet or clean out the safe. In doing so, and retaining the most utilitarian firearms, a .22lr would be a great choice. A combination of a .22lr...
