Fair show, though crowded when I was there. Wish there was more room between tables/isles to move in around in. Didn't see anything I couldn't live w/out, but was good day (overcast/cloudy) for taking in a gun show.
Did see a Ruger LCP, that was calling to me, think it was $318 + tax, but...
The .300 Sav killed a pile of elk in its day before the other cartridges you mentioned were available. It will still do a fine job for you if you do your part and place your shots carefully. All that being said, I'd probably choose something with more reach if other options were available.
regarding Bisley vs. DA shooting comfort...
This is just my two cents, so take it for what it's worth.
Having tried them all, I'll have to agree w/ Jim that the Bisley is the most comfortable to shoot especially w/ the hard kicking, heavy hunting weight bullets. Just a couple of weeks ago I...
Thats it... get it out. Now now, don't you feel better?
I applaud you for admitting that you have a problem. Many of us never can "own up" to our addiction and then we wonder how in the heck did the gun safe wind up so full.

Personally speaking,
I've always thought the 7.5" Redhawk is a serious and handsome looking piece. Not sure about the 5.5" model.
Now the SRH is flat out an ugly gun. Opinions may vary...
It does have the firing pin on the hammer (as it should be), and I should have mentioned that in my original post. Also, it does have the black pinned front sight. I hope I'm not breaking any rules by posting the link, but see below for the gun in question...
I assumed the gun was a 6-shot. It may in fact be a 7-holer. I don't own the gun and have never examined in in my hands. Came across it on an auction page.
Question MR. G -- does the product code on your gun match the one I listed?
I recently came across an odd S&W model 686 w/ 3" barrel. I'm hoping someone here could give me more info on whether a 3" barrel is a rarity in this model. Below is the info that I have on the gun. Any and all help is appreicated.
*Model 686 S&W
*SATIN Stainless finish (bead blasted)
*3"...
