So I finally got to the big city and got to experience the new Scheels store in Chandler Arizona. Frankly I am not impressed. It is a totally overblown shopping center for every genre of sporting and outdoor activities imaginable. I made my way up to the second level to where the firearms, ammo...
I inherited a Winchester 94 30wcf from my late brother in law. It was given to me because I am the only gun guy in the family. Serial number shows it to be made in 1917 and it came from the West Texas part of the country. It's smooth and tight and shoots well. I was hitting the 100 yard steel...
I'm in the middle of nowhere in sunny southern Arizona and we have a place on BLM land three miles up the road where the locals all go to shoot. No benches or target stands so it's bring your own. There is the City of Safford range with Rifle out to 800 yards with steel plates. hand gun and...
I went there last year and when they asked about firearms I just said NO. I did have a pistol in the center console.
FWIW the full tour of the dam is worth it especially if you have ever worked big jobs.
Glad you got that one figured out. I'll be interested in how this rifle works out for you. I have a Rem 788 in 6mm Rem that is pretty much shot out after too many trips to the Dog towns. Been thinking about re-barreling it.
The expander section of some Lee dies are a little rough and can be polished up by chucking them in a drill and polishing with 600 grit paper. I do use Imperial sizing wax for almost all of my FL resizing chores. Just dip the case neck in, sometimes just every third one.
The Lee Pro 100 die set is just a standard full length die, a standard seating die and a short powder charging die.
Good dies, I use the hell out of them for my .223 blammo ammo.
No AR's in my house but I do load for two bolt rifles and can play with seating heavier bullet out to the lands. Trouble is my Rem788 slower twist has a deep throat and my Howa 1500 1in9 has a short throat.
Back in those crazy wild fun days of 1969 I hadn't a care in the world. Got out of the Army in Sept, had a good talk with my folks who both served in War2. They could see the crazy in me and my Dad recommended I get a job out away from people and said a feller he knew was looking for a good hand...
I have mined the copper for making bullet jackets and cartridge cases but my part ended when it went out the gate on a flatbed truck from the Freeport McMoran Morenci Az mine in a big ingot.
Back in 1969 I was working on a ranch way up in the Big Horn Mountains in Montana. One of the other cowboys got me in to reloading 30-30 with a Lee whack a mole and casting our own bullets. We tried a lube of 50/50 Bear grease and Bees wax. Scooping powder with the Lee scoop and if I remember...
Is this once fired brass that you have reloaded? That looks like the mark left after being pressure tested. I bought some once fired 22-250 brass one time that had that mark. I had a hard time getting it resized to chamber in my Ruger 77VT.
