    Rock Island BBR

I have the rock island bbr. In general it's good, but it was not entirely reliable, with both ftf and fte, so I ended up replacing the ejector, extractor, hammer spring, firing pin, and firing pin spring (all Wilson Combat parts). I then tensioned the extractor, polished the feed ramp, and...

    Firing 380 Auto in a 9mm Luger?

same with me--I only noticed it was underpowered then realized the spent brass was 380 I don't shoot 380s and 9mms together now.

How many here have killed a chronograph?

yup, I've shot two, early on in my reloading days. For some reason the third has lasted for a long time. Am I getting better?

    Barrel Length vs Burn Rate.

another data set to burst some bubbles. In these six 15" encore barrels, the cartridges that have bore diameters closer to the cartridge case width (350 magnum and .308 win) performed differently regarding powder burn rate and velocity than the cartridges that have wide case diameters in...

    Barrel Length vs Burn Rate.

If you want me to start, here I go--in my 15" barrels, fastest velocities among the five top velocities in 350 magnum is AA 2230; fastest in 6mbr is among top five is 4895; fastest in .224 is VN 120; fastest in 6/5-284 is HH 4350; fastest in .308 in VN 133. In all of these loads, I could not get...

    Barrel Length vs Burn Rate.

I have heard this many times, but I reload six rifle cartridges for 15" T/C Encore barrels (308, .223, 7mm BR, 6mm BR, 6-5-284, and 350 magnum), and in EVERY case, I get the fastest velocity using the fastest-burning powder, as shown in Lee and other reloading manuals. It's documented carefully...

    American Reloading pull down powder

I have used the #1 45 ACP pull down powder from American reloading, and though the starting data is low, it has worked very well for me. I agree that the current prices at AR are too close to known powder to merit the risk, though I have four different pull down powders from American reloading...

    AK pistol loads, x39

I have a 10 inch barrel AR 15 in 7.62x39 and love it. As I recall, I put in the heavier buffer but have a basic gas block (not adjustable), and a basic compensator, and I don't have problems with it being over-gassed or slaming the bcg. I would guess you need to turn down the gas somehow (sorry...

    Dies for .45 ACP?

I like the hornady dies for 45 acp and other handgun calibers. the TIN coating is easier to work with than carbide, but most importantly, I love their bullet seating dies--they extend downward to align the bullet more easily and accurately before you begin to seat it.

So Do Nickel Plated Cases Scratch Dies Or Not?

I ended up throwing away my nickel plated cases in 9mm. 40S&W, and 45 GAP because it takes noticeably more force to run them through the resizing dies (Hornady) and seems to be a bit abrasive. I also had to lube them, and that's not worth the effort. And yes, I clean them before resizing. I...

    Subcompact double stack 1911s... reliable?

I have the RIA BBR 3.10. I have also built five 1911s from 80% receivers (from 4.25 to 3" barrels), so I have some experience dealing with them. My BBR was ok at first, having a failure to feed or eject every 20 rounds or so. I ended up putting in a Wilson combact extractor and ejector on the...

What do you prefer as a non-carried vehicle weapon?

I have a AR15 pistol in 300 blackout in my truck. Good quality, and very reliable, but not that expensive, so I'll take the chance it could get stolen. Live on the U.S.-Mexico border....

45 acp brass: small or large primers?

With the primer shortage, I had to buy 500 spp 45 cases just because I could not find lp primers in stock and had plenty of sp primers. I've shot lp primers in 45 acp for 20 years; with the small pp, I could not tell any difference in performance.

327 LCR soot in your face?

not with my LCR 327 either --and I shoot full power 327fm loads with cast.

Pistol caliber for feral pig kill

Here's a useful link about the 1-2 inch thick "shield" on the sides of feral pigs: https://feralhogs.extension.org/shoulder-shields-in-feral-hogs/ I just know the guides at the Texas hunting ranches would talk about how tough this shield is on bullets. That's, I guess, what makes the feral hogs...
