    405 gr @ 2000 fps

Im with you greenmtnguy, I shoot a lot of the 300g HPs around 2150fps. I get MPBR out to about 200y for pigs, and it drops 'em.

    405 gr @ 2000 fps

I shoot the 400/405g bullets around 1750fps from my 18" GBL. From memory I'm using about 46g of H4198. It's a hard hitting load, which still delivers a modicum of recoil. Much more pleasant than those very hot loads however. And you don't lose too much in terms of maximum point blank range...

Ruger American jams to lands with factory ammo?

Be keen to see what the bullet looks like when coloured-in with a Sharpie and chambered... Have you also tried inserting a bullet into a fired case, with the case mouth crimped with pliers, and chambering said long-seated bullet to see what oal comes out?

    New Zastava Mausers, any good?

I have two and had two others. Along with the Howa, they're the best value bolt action rifle on the market. All four of mine were 1.25moa accurate out of the box and with tweaking, sub moa.

Thanks RCModel. Good advice nonetheless! I don't post here often but read a lot of your posts. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. - Bob

BSA CF2 take off barrel thread compatibility.

Hello Folks, I've got a BSA CF2 take off barrel that I would like to use as it is nearly new. Are the threads on this barrel readily compatible with any other receivers? Sorry I can't tell you what the thread type or pitch is because I am really an engineering dunce.... But in other...

Need some advice with a weak-extracting bolt rifle

Folks I have a BSA CF2 chambered in 250-3000 Ackley Improved. Its a nice accurate solid rifle, but.... When extracting fired cases, the extractor seems not to take hold of the rim all that firmly because even when worked hard, the case barely rolls out of the ejection port. Also - and more...

    Tikka and Boyd's

Not a Tikka mate but I did replace the plastic stock on my Zastava Mauser with a Boyds Classic Walnut. I got the unfinished version and Tru Oiled it. I am very happy with the product. It weighs about the same as the one it replaced but I would point out the synthetic stocks on the Zastava are...

    7mm v 270 Win

7 Rem Mag will basically shoot bullets 15 to 20g heavier to the same speeds. The downside is more recoil, more powder, shorter barrel life and two less rounds in the mag, should you need them. As a hunting rifle the only reason I would choose the 7 Mag over the 270 Win would be if I needed...

7mm Velocity across different loads Tikka T3

I have a 270 Win that produces between 150 to 250 fps less than manual data when loaded to the same levels. I just load more powder or test with the next fastest powder. I generally get about 2 to 3 grains over book max before I hit book max speeds, depending on the bullet used. It is my...

Pre-98 Mausers and case rupture safety?

I had this one rupture recently in a new Zastava commercial Mauser type action in 30-06. It was not an overload but a WW2 vintage case which must have corroded obviously. 60g of H4831 with a 180g Interlock. Action was filled with grit and residue but was otherwise unaffected. I threw the...
