If you've got the money pick up one of Springfield Armory's many M14 models. I've heard nothing but good things about their SOCOM 16 and SOCOM II models H20Man that is one sweet looking rifle. Is the suppressor real?

+1 on PTR-91 I've heard that the price on them has gone up a bit though Looks like they average around 1200, not bad for a .308

If the gun is on the DOJ list its no problem, the problem occurs when a buyer hasn't checked the list and tries to order from out of state I agree though, it can be a headache for an uninformed person

You made a good choice, I have an XDM in .40 and I think its a great gun but the potential hassle you almost put yourself in unintentionally isn't worth it.

cali joker, even if the CA FFL were to transfer the gun to you, with no mags it would be useless. I say this because regular XD mags do not work in the XDM and Springfield does not make 10 rd mags for the XDM yet. You would have been buying effectively a single shot pistol my friend.

You can carry in a restaurant as long as you are not in the area that is primarily used to serve alcohol i.e. the bar. You also can't carry after a time which the restaurant stops being a restaurant and primarily becomes a bar (just because it still serves bar food doesn't mean you can CCW)...
