S&W still makes a nice .22 revolver. They are fairly expensive, but very well made. For a good bit less money you might consider a Taurus. I have a Tracker and it shoots great.
I don't think that you can go too wrong for what you payed for it. I bought a Taurus .22 revolver for the same reason. I can shoot 50 rounds of .38 or 500 rounds of .22 for the same price.
Wow, are you sure that it hasn't been refinished? I don't think I've seen a Makarov that looked that good.
It puts my East German to shame. And most Russian versions I've seen look like they were blued with a rattle can.
Sure, why not. I had forgotten what a nice shooting pistol they are until I took mine out the other day and put a few Wolf turds through it. Sad to say, but it shoots straighter than my Glock.
The Ruger is certainly the way to go in a single action. S&W makes a great double action. Although quite expensive either new or used.

This seems like a fair deal, but I'd appreciate opinions on buying...
It's a minor thing, but I see your point. That type of thing shouldn't have ever made it out of the factory.
If it were me, I would shoot the piss out of it. If you have any problems, swap it for another one.
If it's a good shooter, keep it and call it Cindy Crawfords mole...
Taurus 970
If you want a double action, you're pretty much limited to a S&W or Taurus. (Comanche? ug,)
I recently bought a Taurus 970 and have been very pleased with it. The trigger is a little heavy and certainly not S&W smooth, but for the money, it's a great pistol.
I'm going...
