    Which gun cleaner?

Hoppes Elite drawback I had a problem with Hoppes Elite - it took the finish off the wood wherever a drop hit the stock. This may be a fluke since I've never seen a similar complaint, but you may want to talk to the gun store employees to see if they have heard anything about this.

    Reloading Stands

Try a microwave cart - they're small, fairly stable, easy to move around, and run around $100. They usually have plenty of room, and include shelving to store your toys. brad

    Powder Valley, Inc.

I placed an order with Powder Valley recently. They called me to let me know that everything I ordered was out of stock. I was given a choice of waiting until everything ordered was in so that only one shipment (and one hazmat fee) would be made, or of having things shipped as they came in...

    Need Old Data

My manual states that the 87gr is the largest bullet listed because the bullets must be deeply seated in order to be used in the only rifle (at that time) that was designed to use the cartridge (Marlin Model 62 lever). Here's what the manual says: "Reduced powder capacity requires the...

Tikka 6.5 Swede w/ lighter bullets?

I use 120 and 130g Barnes TSX in my Tikka with no problem. They are extremely accurate. I consistently get sub MOA at 100 yards. They are still very good at 200 yards, at between 1" and 1 1/2" groups (the 130g is the smaller group). I've never shot beyond 200 yards, so I have no idea how...

    second amendment history

I think many are missing the point - the militia referred to in the various Federalist Papers consists of the people, not the State. The State may provide the officers, but the people provide their own weapons. That would be very hard to do if their were no RKBA. The State does not provide...

    'Sporting' term

To me, a sporting gun is one that was designed for a specific sport, such as hunting or target shooting. For example, a field-grade shotgun that was designed for hunting has certain characteristics, such as light weight, shorter barrel, certain choke sizes, etc., and a Sporting Clay version...

Nervous to sell to this guy..but feel obligated. What would you do ?

Unfortunately, I'm in California where there is no legal way to transfer a gun (other than a C&R) without going through an FFL. I assumed that New York was just as bad - maybe that was wishful thinking on my part - misery loves company. brad

Nervous to sell to this guy..but feel obligated. What would you do ?

Don't forget that you can't sell her the rifle if it is really for the other guy - that would be an illegal straw man sale. The guy would need to buy directly from you. Make sure the price you are asking is ridiculously high, and make sure to mention the additional costs related to private...

Selling a rifle to someone out of state?

I am also selling a rifle to someone in another state, in this case, Utah. The FFL there told me I needed to have a FFL in my state ship directly to the Utah FFL. My local FFL told me the same thing. Interestingly enough, neither FFL claimed that I couldn't legally ship directly to the Utah...

Opinions on firearms rights in Seattle/Tacoma area

MrSig - I already own the house (I bought a few years ago) so I won't be one of the bad ones, even if I will be coming from the San Fran Bay area. The good news is that prices are actually back down to where they were 3 or 4 years ago, so now is a good time to buy. Whidbey's great - liberals...

Opinions on firearms rights in Seattle/Tacoma area

I hope to move soon to Whidbey Island. It's good to hear that Seattle isn't representative of the rest of Washington State. Is there a website that shows hunting possibilities in western WA? Thanks. brad

    Hog Hunt Recommendations

I've only hunted pigs once, and that was using a 6.5x55 (.264 bullet diameter). Others on that hunt used 300 Win Mag or similar sizes. Although my caliber was entirely adequate, the Win Mag didn't seem like overkill either. There was little difference in the meat damage and both did the job...

Caliber Comparison: The Swede vs. The King

Not necessarily - bullet design has much to do with the deformation as well. Hollow points will deform easier than solid tips, soft bullets will deform easier than jacketed bullets. Some bullets explode with exposure to minimal hydrostatic forces, while others resist, retaining almost their...
