Why Do You Carry A Gun?

Because I have a responsibility to protect my family and the world is sometimes an unpredictably dangerous place. That includes both two and four legged predators in my case. Since you are of an age, you can also add that you are now too old to take a beating.

Deer retrieval unit finally done ....lets see yours!

I don't know how many deer I and my buddies have hauled out with one of these carts the last several years. It also fits under the tonneau cover on my truck. https://gorillamade.com/product/gor4ps-gor4ps-c/

A Fixed Stock's & Fixed Carry Handle's Love Is Very Different From That Of A Square....

I don't give a rip about retro ARs, but I do love the reference.

350 legend vs 300 blk out for deer

FWIW, magazines seem to be the key to making 350L run smoothly. IME, the Wilson Combat magazines are the best.

Acceptable accuracy for a .357 carbine at 50 yds?

Yes, I have one. When I can't see the peep any more, I will mount it.

    Subsonic 6.5

I'll save you the trouble. The softest 6.5 bullet I know of is the Nosler 129 grain ABLR. That one is rated to expand down to 1300 FPS. Everything else I am aware of requires 1600 FPS impact velocity or higher to expand. 900ish is not going to expand. You can kill a deer with that, but I...

Acceptable accuracy for a .357 carbine at 50 yds?

Upgrade your sights and fiddle around with loads. I have a Rossi that cannot be scoped, but a peep and a fiber optic front sight work well to the limits of my vision. I mostly shoot 38 target loads out of it. An inch at 50 yards is pretty typical until my eyes get tired.

Are you stocked up for 2024

The frequent panics and the need to stock up are what they are. Frankly, I lay blame at the feet of the gun grabbers. Otherwise we wouldn't feel compelled to go nuts stockpiling stuff. It is what it is. Make sure you have what you need for the next few years and stop worrying about it.

Win Deer Season XP - thoughts and initial performance

Depending on how much effort they put into these bullets, they may have different expansion characteristics for different cartridges.

Are they as explosive as in higher velocity cartridges?

    Favorite .35 caliber?

I have been fooling around with cast loads in 350 Legend at low speeds, eventually shooting for subsonic. Last year I ginned up a cast load based on a 207 grain bullet that chronos at 1150 FPS. We use this load for beaver hunting where the distances are generally short and you need a bit of...

    Favorite .35 caliber?

I really like 35 Rem, but it has become expensive to shoot even with reloads. Fortunately, 350 Legend is extremely similar (I even use the same mold for cast bullets), and ammo, components, etc. are everywhere.

Wanting something for squirrel control besides a 22 and need opinions.

Is your marlin a 39a? If so, you have a bunch of options with quieter ammo. The Aguila subsonic is very quiet out of a longer barrel like the 39a and very accurate. The argument for a pellet gun is that you can buy very quiet suppressed rifles without jumping through nfa hoops. Traps work...
