    I want another 40

How about a Sig P229 or 226 in 40SW? Those are pretty nice. The Springfield XD-40 is also a very good shooter for the money. I have had one for 3 years and it has been flawless. - Brickboy240

Care and Feeding of the 1911

No...not a Glock. The Glock 45 feels like a fencepost in the hand. Sig P220 if you don't "dig" the 1911 makes more sense. Seriously, though. On the 1911...use grease ONLY on the slide rails and watch the extractor tension and condition of your magazines. Usually, when a 1911 starts...

S&W 3906: single stacks are neat

Yep, single stack 9mms are cool. I used to have a Mdl.39 Smith and loved it. Try a Sig P225 sometime...to me, this is the best mid-range single stack 9mm. - Brickboy240

    Which 1911?

I have owned three Colts and one Springfield stainless model, like the one shown above. Truth be told, the Colts have all been more trouble than the Springfield. All of the Colts have had springs swapped, feedramps polished and a myriad of other things done to ensure their reliability. The...

    Springfield XD Problem

Owned an XD-40 Service for 3+ years...not one problem at all after thousands of rounds downrange. No rust either! Buy one and shoot with confidence! - Brickboy240

Shipped my new Combat Commander back to Colt.

The Colt people are not goign to like this, but this has been my experience with Colt products... I have owned 4 Colt 1911s over time and one Springfield Armory GI model. Of the five 1911s, the Colts have given me more problems. Some right from day-one, others developed as time went by. I...

I WANT to love the 1911

Wilson 47D magazine Wilson Bulletproof Extractor Wilson Custom Tune Spring Kit (with extra power recoil spring) ...cured my cantankerous 1973 Combat Commander. Cheap fix, if you ask me. 100% reliability in a Colt/Hartford 1911...whodathunkit? Now the Colt runs like my Springers...

What is the most accurate 9mm you have owned?

1994 FN/Belgium Hi-Power...made on an Isralei military contract for Isralei State Security. Very, very accurate and very reliable 9mm. - Brickboy240

    Beretta M9 on GI Factory

Yeah, when you go from shooting a Hi-Power or CZ-75 like I did, to the Beretta 92F, the thing seems enormous and very chunky. Good shooter...but just too damn big. Their new PX4 Storms do seem to feel better in the hand than the 92F. - Brickboy240

    Taurus 1911 SS

They look well made, but the chunkyness of the triggerguard has me worried that the Taurus 1911 might be thick and chunky in the grip frame like the Sig GSR. Not good...seeing that the big attraction to the 1911 is usually the nice grip. Still....where ARE these thigns? The ads and photos are...

Hi Power Clones Feg vs. FM

The Argentine FM Hi-Power is a true Hi-Power copy and like the Argie Sistema Colts, it is a factory approved copy from FN Belguim. The Argeintines bought the license from FN to build the Hi-Power. The FEG is not officially sanctioned or made by license from FN. But the FM over the...

    Best 9mm?

The best 9mm? To me, its the Browning Hi-Power. Slim, simple, well made, all steel, accurate and the best trigger. Honorable mention goes to (and these are VERY good 9mms)... Sig's 226 and 228 (the W. German made models) Sig's P210 (if you can swing the 3 grand price tag) HK p7...

Please help me decide: Taurus PT-99 or XD-9

XD-9. Better customer service, more comfortable grip and a very good track record make the XD-9 hard to beat. That torture test dome by Handguns Magazine ought to put to bed any reservations about it's durability. - Brickboy240

    Beretta M9 on GI Factory

The 92F Beretta I owned was a reliable accurate shooter. I only got rid of it, because I felt it was a little chunky for a 9mm and the safety was way up on the slide and hard to get at. It WAS a high quality piece that was very well made and shot very well...just not suited to my hands as well...

    My next gun XD9 (maybe)

Very good pistol for the money. I have had my XD-40 for two years now and not one failure at all. Accurate and reliable and comfortable to shoot. I have not expereinced the rusting slide that some speak of. You'd think that living in hellishly hot and humid Houston, I'd see the rust, but two...
