There is a review on YouTube from a guy in New Zealand that takes a good look at this rifle. Accuracy was decent, but if action wasn't cycled fast enough the cartridge had a tendency to pop out of the magazine and jam. I'll see if I can find it again and post a link.
I would be interested in a range report. I've looked for information on these and little is available because they are new to the market. Bergara offers one in 6.5 Creedmoor that interests me.
If you don't mind an hbar that upper should be good. I find hbars to be front heavy and prefer a lighter profile barrel. Look at ARPerformance, Ironworks Tactical and Bison Armory. Have heard good things about all of them, but they might be more than you want to spend. I have a Stag government...
I went with 6.8spc and am happy with it. A few guys I hunt with went 6.8 after I bought mine.
If you end up going this route watch Palmetto State Armory. They have great deals on 6.8 ammo at times.
It's a great cartridge for the AR15. I really enjoy mine. I don't have an expensive one. It's a Stag upper which cost about as much as any standard mid-level AR upper.
Ammo can be expensive at places, but I've seen Fed Fusion for as low as $9.99 online. For plinking ammo, American Eagle has...
More important than brand, look at barrel profile. I have 2 RRA midlength uppers, an A2 and an A4, they are really front heavy. I have a Stag 6.8 with government profile and the balance is better. My BCM upper with lightweight barrel balances the best. All 4 have been completely reliable.
I would just buy another complete upper, but that's just me
But if I wanted to move everything from one upper to another I would get an unassembled BCM blemished/demo upper for $80.
I have a Vortex Diamondback HP 2-8 that I like. Glass is better than my Burris Fullfield II, but not as good as my Leupold VX3 1.5-5. Wish I would have bought another VX3 when Cabela's had them on sale.
Vortex has a great warranty. They are starting to produce some scopes in the US, but...
I like the American Eagle AR 5.56. If you choose to go with that Cabela's has it for $6.99 per box of 20 right now. That comes out to about $.35 per round. It doesn't come on stripper clips, if that's important to you.
Don't know what prices you are seeing, but I've seen the diamondback hp for as low as $175.00 within the last couple of months. If you are willing to spend a bit more, the Leupold VX3 is $100 off at places right now. I picked up a 1.5-5 for $299. Much clearer glass than my Diamondback HP...
