6.5 Grendel vs the .243 what would you rather have?

You say the rifle is the same, so what kind? If a bolt action, I guess I'd say 243. For a semi auto I'm not sure, so I didn't vote above. I'm not really a fan of either caliber personally just because neither suits my needs and I think for many applications there are other better cartridges...

    Options for left-hand bolt action

Right hander who's left eye dominant here, so I shoot long guns left handed. For bolt guns, I've ended up with a few Savages. Maybe they aren't the most flashy gun but they work well, and are easy to modify if you want to. The Savage website doesn't let one filter for stainless, but if you...

Labradar users. Can you recommend this chronograph?

Or, you could download some cartridges to get BC at lower speeds. Would have to go to cast bullet load recipes to get some lower velocities, but you could fill in the curve all the way to transonic and below if desired. Getting a BC for cast bullets is another great application, since many...

Labradar - New App Due Soon???

What sort of improvements or upgrades would you look for? The only thing I can think is more sensitive radar to track smaller/faster bullets further. As far as the app, I only wish that it didn't require GPS be active on my device in order to connect to Labradar. That's stopped me from using...

    Which Chronagraph?

My Competition Electronics optical chrono has been great. It rarely misses a shot, and has worked in far lower light than a friends Chrony model. Lining up the chrono and target and gun is always a pain for rifle though. Also recently got Labradar. Hands down the best thing for rifle, but at a...

    7.62 M43 AR-guement

I love my AR in 7.62x39. Got a midlength 16" barrel years back that Midway doesn't seem to stock anymore. Yes, dedicated mags and an extended firing pin is all it took. Then have fun. The gun has been surprisingly accurate with Tulammo. The special lowers take AK mags and also need special...

What do you do with your stickers?

I like the stickers, but have the same reservations as many others. So, we went to the craft store, bought some magnetic sheets and turned the stickers into fridge magnets. Anyone in our house knows we have guns anyways, plus being magnetic we can easily move them when desired.

When is a silencer a silencer?

I share your frustration with current law, but when the ATF has put people in jail by calling a rifle and a shoelace a "machine gun", I'm not inclined to try and test legal precedent. I think they would use the "designed or redesigned" wording that is so prevalent in the NFA to make their case.

When is a silencer a silencer?

No, moderator. Reread the thread. This is about a sound reducing device being permanently affixe to a muzzleloader barrel, this not being an NFA item.

    "Fantasy gun" defense

Heck, some even call the shortened "Sheriff's" versions "Fantasy Guns". LOL. Might not have been common, but the process for shortening a revolver isn't exactly rocket surgery. I do sigh at the advertising for some of the guns though. Like my 1851 "Navy Yank Sherrif" in .44. Obviously I don't...

Testing the trigger on rifles, true test or not?

I'm not familiar with this trick. Can anyone elaborate? As far as the safety, yes it's a valid test. It's valid in that it is possible to have this event happen in real life. In truth, you could just drop the rifle straight on the butt from a port arms type of height. Now, what it is not is a...

    AR trigger "kit" vs "drop-in"?

I guess the "drop in" style doesn't need to have the disconnector aligned with the pin and you'll not be fighting the hammer spring any. OTOH, if you have some measure of dexterity and can install/remove a GI trigger without swearing, you won't care about the install either way. Me, I'd go with...

Palmetto State Armory AR 10 platform

I'd opt for an increase in buffer mass over a stiffer spring for an overgassed gun. The BCG only moves a very small distance before unlocking and the change in spring force over such a small distance really isn't that much. The spring will slow the bolt faster later in the travel, but a heavier...

When is a silencer a silencer?

I thought that in order to do that, you first had to make the item and send it to them for approval.
