I won't argue that, it obviously is just as relevant in regards to the AR as well. My point is the AK is plenty lethal and plenty accurate for what it is designed to do. While there may be a select few that fight all their battles from 300 yards and further, I believe most ground infantry...
After taking the advice of several people that have already posted in this thread, I put an ultimak rail and CompML3 red dot on my AK and it is plenty accurate for my needs.
Out to 100 yards I am VERY consistent on where I want to place my shots. 150 I start to struggle and at 200 yards...
+1 benEzra.
I don't think there is any question that this could have and should have been handled differently.
For those of us that do carry weapons, these events, these questions, these results are what shape the future actions/reactions we may take at some point in our life...
This reminds me of some arguments I have had with anti-gun morons that accuse me of being paranoid or a Rambo wannabe. They always ask, why I feel the need to carry a gun, do I think I'm going to be attacked all the time or at some place in particular? To which I reply, "if I thought I would...
Follow up to first report...
Here is the update on the story, looks like the shooter is a documented gang member, but not much new in the details of the case. As mentioned before, be aware, be prepared, and make smart decisions, because you never know how unhinged an individual may be when you...
Yes I do know some things about Detroit, but I have never lived there. Only visited for business several years ago, which hardly qualifies me for an expert. If it is really as bad as you say comparing it to Somali, then what you are saying is it is completely lawless. If that is the case...
Yep, but that is a tough one when you literally have seconds or miliseconds to react. Another great reminder why it is so important to be aware, be prepared, and be sure.
I know this is another item/event that I will file into my limited mind regarding my future visits to convenience...
Good Lord, if I read one more post about he shouldn't have been in Detroit at 9 pm getting groceries again, I'm going to flip. :fire: :banghead::cuss:
HE WAS BUYING GROCERIES for pete sakes. He lives in Detroit. Would you rather he drive 30 minutes to buy them somewhere else? Judas...
With all due respect to the Moderators, I posted this story for the reasons outlined in my OP and subsequent post. This is the type of story that makes ME think, evaluate, review, and solidify my position, thoughts, and plan for situations that might come my way.
Last night my brother and I...
As usual this has turned into a debate as to whether or not the guy should have acted or not, and what a idiot he is for doing so.
People, as I said in my opening post:
There are those that will applaud this man for standing up and trying to stop a crime.
There will be those that will...
There was another thread going on Bill O'Reilly's view of the 2nd amendment and it got locked because it turned into a debate over O'Reilly vs Olbermann.
Unfortunately it got locked just as I asked a question. Here is my comment from that thread:
Can anyone weigh in on this? Is this...
Question....
Aside from the O'reilly/Olbermann debate going on, can I ask a simple question?
Did any of you people actually see the O'reilly interview and his subsequent answers to emails the following day?
I don't know the answer to this, but it got me thinking and a bit worried...
This is the kind of story that usually gets a nice division of opinion here on The High Road.

I posted this story as a reminder to all of us that there are bad people out there and we...

3. Agreed, but I have chosen to have a couple of secured and loaded guns, in spots that I can get to immediately if needed. Also, depending on the neighborhood, city, environment, etc.. securing your home and having good locks would be the first step...
I've got a Lancaster Arms AK-47 and have owned it for about 2 years now. Never had a single hiccup, gun is well constructed, and I have zero complaints.
I don't own numerous other AK's to compare it to, but I'd give them a big thumbs up.
