Would a Taser Drop a Big Bear?

Or run to the nearest head and empty your shorts... Parker

How would you deal with this "uncovered" undercover gun?

cchris: In South Carolina, adult males are still required to bring a rifle to church on Sunday in defense of Native attackers, or something of that sort. I'd start attending church this very Sunday if that was the official policy (haven't been to church in years). Parker

Mechanics or Purpose. What Makes a Gun?

Do you think less of me for having a tactical toolbox on my tractor? Parker

    open carry

When my father died, I inherited his 1911 and I carry it in a Bianchi "Minimalist" holster, sometimes openly. It's weird, but that particular holster also fits a SAA nicely, a little higher with the trigger guard exposed, so sometimes I carry one of those. In the rural are where I live and...

Are 'Gun Enthusiasts' also Packrats as a general rule?

Well, I'm a discriminating pack rat - I only keep certain things. Old tools and car parts, interesting pieces of wood for carving, nuts and bolts for fixin' stuff. Dishware, dolls, and doilies - down the road it goes. I partly justify keeping usable building materials by using them...

    Muzzle Control on Non-Guns

Ooooh, ooooh, let me tell you about my Paslode cordless framer! High-torque drills with big holesaw bits or long augers require careful trigger control or they can break your wrist/knock you off a ladder/slam your hand into the adjacent floor joist etc. There are quite a few shooters in...

    Pointless Arguements

Um, GIM, I think you'll find that making a list of pointless arguments gets them back in circulation fairly quickly. Parker

    Myths about the western gunfighter.

Unless your opponent happened to be Doc Holliday, who apparently didn't suffer any impairment from being drunk. Arguably, any fight with Doc was "unfair" by definition. I guess it depends on who you call a gunfighter, but I've always tended to think that the ones who took it seriously came to...

so I fired a 223 inside a small room today

158 grain-er out of a .357 Security Six inside a '74 Plymouth Duster was loud enough that I've never done it again. Through the (open) passenger window at a grouse on a brushy slope, if you must know. I think the statute of limitations has expired by now. Parker

Y-Sam:I'm looking for logic in this journalism. Good luck finding it in any journalism nowadays. Parker

Factoring accessories / ammo into price of used gun...

I can't remember the last time I sold a gun, but if I wanted to, I'd be inclined to take the potential buyer out and let them shoot it first. That way I'd get an idea of their gun safety attitude, and they'd get to make a more informed decision before buying. If they shot up half a box or so...

Somebody just tried jumping in my truck....

So is it true - are people from FL all (what he said)? Maybe you should try being more of one. Parker

Saying "guns kill people" is like saying...

"Guns cause crime like flies cause garbage." That one I saw on a bumper sticker, this one I made up: "Fighting crime by banning guns is like trying to save trees by breaking axe handles." Parker

How do I transport a gun safe?

Wow! They moved the pyramid stones on PVC pipes? Parker

    how do you define anti?

"Gun owners are more likely to kill themselves than an attacker" is equal to "Carpenters with a hammer are more likely to hit their own finger than pound in a nail." Just doesn't happen very often. Parker, who would have no fingers left...
