I've loaded a bunch of Berry's 230 gr. bullets. I've gotten good results from 4.9 gr. to 5.7 gr. I gradually worked up to 5.7 using a chronograph. I wouldn't have gone that far without one. Your gun might not like 5.7. I agree with the suggestion to back off and try slightly lighter loads...
Off duty cops aren't magically protected from angry people they have arrested once they're out of uniform. Hence, 24/7 carry.
That said, I'm a big proponent of everyone being allowed to carry 24/7.
Congrats, eldon! I'm sure you'll enjoy your new toy!
As someone who has in the past looked at the 5 shot .44 Mag. Taurus and wished wistfully that S&W would make one, I really, really want one!
Would I rather have one without the lock? Of course! If it was a model I could get used...
Statistically, you are waaay above average for events like that. I've recently been reading Elmer Keith and I don't think he blew up that many guns.
Are those guns you've personally blown up?
Very curious...
I have 2 .22LR models - one with each barrel length. I have tried 3 different grips on the shorter one but no matter what the muzzle rises more (prints higher on a 5 yd. target) and groups are not as tight. I have 500+ rounds through one and 800+ rounds through the other - so my sample size is...
I washed some .22 LR rounds recently. The one that also went through the dryer was battered to the point of not chambering. But the ones that were only washed all fired.
Of course, I would never carry a 9V battery in the same pocket... :uhoh:
That has sure not been my experience with them and I have no use for Glocks (just ask either of my brothers who have drunk the koolaid). I've not seen a single malfunction across 6 or 7 models I've shot and seen shot. But to me they feel like picking up a 2x4.
That's how I ended up with...
There is _nothing_ they could offer which would cause me to consider accepting universal background checks - nothing.
UBC is a registry and history provides ample evidence that registries lead to confiscations. I'll leave as an exercise for the OP the sketching out of how a confiscation...
A couple others mentioned it but I'll say it too: a .45 fired inside the house is going to hurt the ears less than a .357. For that reason, I keep a 1911 beside the bed. Before I thought that all the way through it was usually a .357 beside the bed. I'm really more of a revolver guy but when...
I prefer the 7 round mags in my 1911s. One 1911 does bedside duty and a flashlight and a spare mag sit right next to it. If 15 rounds can't solve the problem there's always the shotgun... I expect it would be plenty, though. The 1911 gets the call because I shoot it better than any other gun...
Our anti-gun "friends" love straw men so I highly doubt they'll give up on this any time soon. But I agree that it's really annoying.
Maybe we need to start putting up billboards to offer them a clue.

"When the founders added the 2nd amendment to the...
I used to keep a .357 by the side of the bed. I switched to keeping a 1911 there for one reason: .45 ACP is a lower pressure round and will do less damage to our hearing if I ever have to pull the trigger inside the house when there hasn't been time to grab hearing protection.
.22 LR
.357 Mag.
.45 ACP
.30-06
12 ga.
Seriously, though, there'd be a grandfather clause and I'd get to pick 5 new calibers I don't already have, right?
In that case,
.221 Fireball
.38 Super
.40 S&W
.45-70 Gov't
.500 S&W Mag.
