For little critters I still carry the same Marlin Glenfield Model 60 (squirrel stock version) that I hunted wabbits with 46 years ago. To say that it hasn't failed me would be a bit of a stretch but overall I love that rifle. Nothing pretty about it after all these years but those scratches...
Whenever I think of a hunting rifle what comes to my mind is a bolt action 30-06 stocked in walnut wearing both a scope AND irons. Throw in a cabin set in the autumn woods along with some flannel and you're good to go.
Trophy hunting in Africa puts millions of dollars into the local economies and food on the table of those who desperately need it. Yeah, that's simply awful.
