    Unexpected results 38 spl.

I wouldn't think it would be gunpowder, either. Testing was inconclusive. I'd already swept what was on the bench into the trash. I dumped what was left in the baggie on to a piece of paper. Tried to sprinkle that on a burning match and got a small puff of smoke and a hot finger. In hindsight, I...

I hadn't but I did..:) 150.6. Close enough. I like Acme bullets.. I know I said I'd let this thread die a natural death.. but here I am again. I have two scales, a digital for quick and dirty measurements, and a 10-10 that I use as the bible. Both were saying 2.8. I'm grasping at straws now.. I...

    Unexpected results 38 spl.

Basically, that is why I started this thread. I've shot a lot of wadcutters out of this snubbie. It was the heaviest recoil by far that I've ever had with it. I'll let this thread die a natural death, but think I'll take my .357 magnum out and try a couple more just for grins.

    Unexpected results 38 spl.

That's why I started this thread. I'm well aware that over 1000 fps is unreasonable with this load. I wasn't about to shoot 5. The recoil was bad enough on the first that I pulled the 4 remaining test loads I'd made to make *sure* I had loaded 2.8 gr. Measured 2.8 gr. and loaded another. 1053...

    Unexpected results 38 spl.

Thanks for that..makes perfect sense. I tried N330 because that's what I have for 9MM. Also Bullseye. Both acted as I would expect. Yeah, it's a button head.. supposed to fly better from the (little) research I've done. I do have *some* HP-38, but didn't try it. How about Unique for a slower...

    Unexpected results 38 spl.

Checking the scale was the *first* thing I did. Yeah, right on the money with my beam scale and digital. I've shot this little booger a fair amount.. recoil was considerably higher than normal. :) Data is for lead. Yes, these are high tech coated. Not hard to extract, but I'm certainly not...

    Unexpected results 38 spl.

It's for the Lyman 358091, which as far as I know isn't a hollow base. Says 3.1 gr TG @ 1.317 to start, 854 fps. Thanks for the reply..

    Unexpected results 38 spl.

Hi folks. Last summer I bought 500 Acme 148 gr. BNWC-NLG wad cutters. Thought I'd load some for my little S&W snubbie. It's my first high tech coated bullet. Lyman data says start 3.1 gr Titegroup at 1.317" oal for a different 148 gr. wad cutter. This bullet has a cannelure, though, and seating...

    N330 Load data

Thanks. I bought the N330 mainly for 9mm, but when I received the Hornady 180s I thought they'd be fine for mid range 44 mag and 44 spl. I have 2400 for heavy magnum loads.

    N330 Load data

Thanks Walkalong. If I understand correctly, you are saying because N320 is a faster powder, I could go safely to it's max loading, and work up slowly if I choose to?

    N330 Load data

When I bought my new red press, Hornaday just kindly sent me 500 180 gr. 44 XTP bullets. Looking up the load data from my Vihtavuori app on the fone, they say N320 Start 10.6 grains N340 Start 13 grains Naturally, I have N330. Can I safely split the difference?

    Moving up to Blue...worth it?

Gentlemen.. let's not get into a pissing match. I'm on motorcycle forums that say Harleys suck. Of course, they do , but there is no need to try to make someone else feel belittled by having one. The blue and the red presses have their followers for good reason, and have been in business...

    Shoulda got a blue one..

Thanks for the warning, Reeferman. So, what goes wrong with the .357 case feeding?
  15. Chuck59

    Shoulda got a blue one..

I adjusted the primer feed gizmo (technical term):) when I first set up the press. I haven't run a boat load, but it's been flawless on 9mm, .357 magnum, and 44 magnum so far. I need to get some LNL bushings and some Hornaday lock rings to make changeover simpler. Hmmm, a case feeder...
