Look at the Mount-n-Slot hardware as well. There are a couple of different models based upon what type of sling adapter you want to use. They have a decent QR type socket that mounts to Magpul hand-guards.
Primary Arms
I prefer Aimpoint for an RDS. I like the PRO as an economical sight by Aimpoint. If that is a bit out of budget then the Primary Arms clones are a great option. I have used them to try out different models of optics before spending the full $$ on the real thing and possible...
Dont waste your time and $$ for most anything from CTD. If you want a fairly decent "knock -off" RDS check out Primary Arms. They have an excellent selection of bot the authentic brands and they have their in-house brand of clone models. I use Aimpoints, but at one time bought a PA M3 clone as...
PSA
Also take a look at Palmetto State Armory. Their stuff is built to an excellent specification. They also regularly run specials. I have used many of their parts on builds for myself and others with excellent results. I just built a middy using their mostly PSA parts for just over $700 .
These are the last 2 that I assembled. I dont like to use "built". I use mainly Palmetto, BCM, and Spikes for my supplies. On the piston it is an Adams mid length kit on a Kreiger barrel.

Steve is great and the quality is second to none. His pricing is great as well. Last order I got was $325 shipped. This was Lake City Brass w/ 55gr. He is always working to improve his product.
You will not go wrong at all with PSA. I have used a good amount of their products in builds that I have done. Everything they have supplied has been built to a high quality spec and their fit and finish has been excellent. I am about to order a new upper from them to complete a lower that I...
Look around for some deals. I picked up a Savage 12BVSS in .308 with low round count (it appears almost NIB) for $350. It had a BSA scope with no name bases and rings. I put and EGW 20moa base and decent rings and will spend my money on a decent scope...hopefully this weekend.
Good deals...
I have a Savage 12 BVSS w/accutrigger. Its would be too heavy for all day carry with the heavy barrel and stock. It is a great shooter and I have been very happy with it.
Freedom Ammunition
Check out www.freedomammunition.com. Steve is great to work with the prices are fantastic and the ammo is great. He will sell in quantities as low as 250 or as big as you you would like. You can do the std 55 or 62 gr or you can work with Steve on special loads and...
Aesthetics are subjective. to some a high polish stock and blued action bolt gun is beautiful. To some an all matte black rifle is it. For many form follows function and to some it is more important to "look good" than be practical.
Personally I'm in the middle.
