I did check for import marks, and there were none. It does have the bayonet lug, and updated safety.

One of my local dealers has a Underwood M1 Carbine for sale. It's priced at $1300.00 which seems a bit high to me, but the thing looks brand new. Hi, congrats on the purchase of your Flaig's rifle. I can't answer your questions, but I also have a (.243) Flaig's rifle. Mine has a FN action on it. I haven't been able to shoot it yet since some dingbat before me screwed up the scope rings and some of the screws, I will have it repaired here...

Lol, yeah I figured either small shop build or some redneck built it, and thought it would be funny to put deers on the barrel. Looks like a "Flaig's" rifle, but doesn't say it on the rifle anywhere. Thanks guys.

Hi guys, I've found a rifle that has a GEW 98 Mauser action, chambered in 220 Swift, and has DEERS stamped on the left side of the barrel, also has a really nice wood stock. Can anyone tell me anything about this rifle? Thanks, Clint

Ok guys so I finally found a set of nice rings at a local gun show. I had to pony up fifty bucks for them, but I was able to match them up, and got to pick the best one from four sets. I'll get out and shoot it as soon as I get a chance. Just wanted to give you all an update.
