Inspecting the Bore of a Brand New Gun?

I did on a brand new, name-brand pistol and discovered NO RIFLING in the bore. Probably wouldn't have shot very well.

    Is a stamped ar15 possible?

The original Armalite AR-180 was a stamped steel AR-type rifle. Gas piston design too.

    $300 NRA life membership

Ever find something wrong with a NIB firearm?

Yep - in January I bought a NIB .40 from a well-known, "quality" manufacturer and the barrel was not rifled. Took a little over 3 weeks to get it back with a new barrel.

    High quality 9mm?

Best range 9mm I've ever had is my Walther PPQ. Most fun to shoot AND admire is my Walther P1 (used - $329 from Bud's). Still looking for a great WWII-era P38 that I'm sure would be even better.

Stoeger Cougar - Range Report ( Also question )

I loved everything about mine except the grip angle. Being more accustomed to the 1911, my natural point of aim with the Cougar was always low. Functioning was always perfect and recoil almost non-existent. Sold it and got a PPQ which I love even more.

    Armslist

I recently posted 2 guns on Armslist and they both sold within 12 hours at my asking price. Both transactions went smooth as glass. Haven't purchased from it yet, but I'm sure I will when the right deal comes along. One thing I did to make sure I didn't get any flakes was say in the ad that I...

    .45 vs .44

I live in the CO Rockies, and I would say your odds of needing a weapon against "large game" are incredibly low. The most dangerous animal in CO is likely the moose and there are very few of them - mostly in the Rocky Mtn Natl. Park area. The occasional black bear or mountain lion are highly...

    Robber gets robbed

I see it was in Stockton - the robbers who robbed the robber were probably robbed before they got to their next robbery.

Have we made the smallest 9mm yet

Kel-Tec made the P-11 in .40 for a few years. I have one and I can tell you it is NOT fun to shoot!

Duplicate Purchase - Of the regret kind.....

I went through a "never sell" period for many years, but now I am actively selling and buying. I have a self-imposed edict that I will spend no "new" money on guns, so if I want something new, something old has to go (usually something I haven't shot in years). The first couple of sales were...

    Keltec p40 range report

I have one I bought new and haven't shot in at least 10 years. I've probably put only 30-40 rounds through it as it is a bit brutal and not terribly practical for carry (have a PF-9 for that). Interesting concept, but.....

    Full Size vs. Compact

I have a SA compact 4" on an Officer frame. I think it's the perfect carry gun (if you happen to move) and it's dead-nuts reliable and accurate. I don't think it gives up anything to a full-size except a few FPS.
