    Condition Three Carry

Everybody has to decide for themselves where they are comfortable at. Just because a person does not want to carry cocked and locked doesn't mean they aren't ready to carry a firearm. Find where you are comfortable at, train as much as possible, carry your firearm and be safe.. Merry...

    Floating the tang..

Thanks... I replaced the recoil lug during the build. I'm a little nervous about the whole bedding process at this point and am waiting to practice on another rifle before I jump on this rifle. I have been shooting the rifle as is and it shoots decent at 1/2 to 3/4 moa right now... Whenever...

    Floating the tang..

Thanks for the suggestions.. I'm new at this to some degree so bear with me.. I don't know how or why I got it in my mind to float the tang, but I took some sandpaper and gently got her floated to the width of a tight business card. I really wanted to see how accurate I can get this rifle...

    Floating the tang..

I just built this rifle and am concerned about the tang binding with the stock. Is is possible to use cardboard to space up the action such that the tang doesn't bind? Also, can you give me some insight on how to correct this in a more permanent fashion. I'm assuming bedding the action would...

    308 Load development

Well, the 308 is a great caliber to load for with a wide selection of powders and projectiles to choose from. Typically you are going to see folks shooting projectiles ranging from 155 up to just over 200 grains. Just to list a few popular projectiles: 155 gr Lapua Scenar 168 gr Sierra...

First Build (Stevens 200 in 308 Winchester)

Well I took about 6 shots to get the rifle sighted in decently close at 100 yards today.. Really much smoother shooting rifle than the stock stevens 200.. Thats for sure... Dialed up 3.75 moa for the 300 yard ladder test with 1/2 grain increments from 39.5 to 44.5... Here are those results...

First Build (Stevens 200 in 308 Winchester)

Regarding the issue I am having with the magazine, I talked to the person I bought the stock from and he stated that he did not use the clip. I decided to use a piece of cardboard as a shim between the magazine shroud and the inletting for the magazine to secure it. This did away with the clip...

First Build (Stevens 200 in 308 Winchester)

Continuing on with the barrel installation.. I cleaned the threads on the receiver really good and just inspected the action best I could with my limited experience. I put the action wrench in my vise again such that the bolt was right side up so I could easily work it to check headspace. I...

First Build (Stevens 200 in 308 Winchester)

Was able to play around with the fitment of the centerfeed blind magazine into the new stock and am having some issues here... Here is how the magazine fits presently. When I place the action in on top of this, the rear tang sits up off the stock. Am I going to need to get the dremmel...

First Build (Stevens 200 in 308 Winchester)

I got started today... Started by removing the scope, rings and base... Took my time here to remove the blue loctite that was on the threads from previous installation and package everything away. Then I got out the NSS Action Wrench and installed it on the action. Here are a few pics of that...

How much time to reload 1000 rounds?

Once you start reloading it won't be about saving the time or the money.... It will be about spending the time.... For me its a place I can go and forget about everything else if not but for just a little while...

First Build (Stevens 200 in 308 Winchester)

urban, I thought about doing that but I'm kinda impatient and don't want to be waiting around for couple months for my action back... Have you had any experience with them lately? As far as bolt handle goes, I was going to spring for a Glades Armory SS bolt handle... The Stevens 200 short...

First Build (Stevens 200 in 308 Winchester)

Yeah I was satisfied with the accuracy of the Stevens rifle just like it was. Only thing was I couldn't shoot that accurately but about 4 shots then barrel heat threw things out the window.
